Hi all,

I am a year long lurker after joining the QF & VA frequent flier programs in April last year.

I'm Adelaide based and 110 SC's short of gold status with QF.. and 30 April is my drop dead date.

I didn't get the double SC's offer (which in itself almost made me rebel and focus on VA instead, but here I am, still posting this message.)

I am thinking the most 'time effective' option would be a return flight to Sydney business class from Adelaide (which will give me 120 points, and will set me back $1740 if I pick the cheaper flights.)

I suspect that there may be more sensible (read, cost effective) options.. and I would gratefully and gleefully accept any suggestions (up to and including 'don't be a goose and forget about it!')

Many thanks,

C.

How many points do you have ADL TSV as a JASA will cost 24000 points and $150 and earn 120 SC.

I have around 51,000 points - logistics not made any easier by having to either travel on a weekend (or a Friday night = $$$) or somewhere between 25 April and 29 April when I am on annual leave! ...Damned if I can find any JASA options ADL TSV around those dates with anything approaching that number of points. :(

I hadn't even considered using JASA (utter newbie here) - was basically hoarding points on the premise that I'd use them for something involving o/s travel.. part of my perpetual plan to do something other than work / hibernate / work :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'd consider myself pretty green here too :) Is it 24000 points one way though? I see there are a few JASA seats left for travel on this route Apr 25 - 28 which could be done for the 51000 pts plus $240 odd cash - a bit cheaper than original Sydney flight purchase, depending on how people value points.

Try first thing on Anzac day, shows up as 37000 but can be reduced to 24000 plus $137 odd

I second markis10's JASA run...it has been the way I ensured retaining Gold last year and will use it into the future.

I think hermit needs to start shopping at Woolworths with his EDR card to gather more points ;)

The difficulty of ADL-TSV is getting back the same days. While it is the optimised best route for a JASA from ADL. For the SC required I would suggest considering ADL-CBR via SYD for a JASA as that will earn 100SC and a cheap Y flight for the return will earn 15 SC. Do not fly via MEL if you do this as that only earns 80 SC. CBR is not as good as TSV but might save staying overnight.

Not really a problem, take the 1700 DJ service an hour after you get in on that day for $268.

Brilliant. As always one step ahead on these things.

Looks like I might get a lazy morning in Brisbane on ANZAC day.

Super suggestion (and thanks for saving me endless hours of research AKA procrastination.) I've booked the JSA you suggested (I abhor red eyes so that will be interesting) as well as the VA flight.

Now to decide what books to take with me to read...

Alas Lindsay - I don't really shop at Woolworths that often.. or at supermarkets in general really. I dislike the whole experience - I try and outsource and/or avoid it as much as possible!

I think I am on the same flights... TSV - BNE at 0555, BNE -ADL at 825.... I then go ADL to SYD... All these flights on Anzac day..

I am flying up from Sydney the day before also... Cost me 72,000 points for 560 status credits ( have the double offer)
