QFF points - no earnings at Mercure hotels?

Hi forum

I recently stayed at the Mercure Treasury gardens in Melbourne which I booked through a third party agent. On checking qantas.com, it states that partner hotels (including Mercure) earn 3 points per $1 spent.

I was told by the Mercure on checking in that I cannot earn QFF points - only points via the Accor program which you can then transfer to QFF. That's all well and good, aside from the fact that the points earning is much lower doing it this way. I since followed up with them by email, and they stated that since early 2012, QFF points cannot be earned.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm sure that since early 2012 I have stayed at Mercure hotels and earned points. I'm not sure where to go with this now....

Hotels and 3rd party booking site generally means no points.
I'd guess you wouldn't have much recourse unless you booked directly with QF

Hey thanks for the replY.

I know that some rates do not earn points, however the Qantas website has a link which says 'hotels booked through an agent' and then takes you to the earnings table. The actual info from Mercure though is that no-one can earn QFF points - only points through the Accor program. This contradicts the Qantas website.

Have you contacted the Frequent Flyer team on 131131 or [email protected] with the details? If not, they'll be able to clarify this with you, and if eligible explain the next steps.

Thanks Red Roo, I will wait until I get a reply from my latest email to the hotel, and if unsatisfactory I will email the FF team :)

Mercure hotels are usually a pain in the rear to have QFF points credited directly as per the earn on the QF site. Just wait 6-8 weeks and then email a copy of your hotel invoice to the QFF email address to retro claim the points.

Hi Red Roo

After going back and forth with the hotel by email, the issue still has not been cleared up. The Assistant Manager came back to me confirming that there is no direct earn with Qantas and that points can only be transferred to my Accor Club membership. Without giving me a chance to respond, the manager then credited the points (although not what they should have been) to the accor account. My total stay for room only was $491, and the accor earning rate is to transfer to euro's first, then award 2 points per euro. The Qantas FF website clearly says 2 points per AUD not euro. The total points posted to my accor account was therefore 726 and should have been 982.

On top of this they are telling me that I can only transfer the points to Qantas once the balance reaches a minimum of 4,000.

Red Roo - are you able to assist at all? I get the feeling that if I contact the FF team who contact the hotel, the hotel will just advise that points have been posted.

I appreciate your frustration regarding this situation, however it would be best to escalate this with our Frequent Flyer team as they're the subject matter experts. Please contact them asap if you haven't already.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
