Hey Guys,

Noob here.

Trying to use the status/points calculator to work out how close to gold we'll get and i'm a bit confused by all the Business classes in the calculator. (There's discount business, business and Flexible Business)

We've booked BNE - PER - LHR then LHR - SIN - BNE in Business. When I go to Manage Booking it says Business (l) - am I correct in assuming this is just standard business? even though I booked sale fares? (kinda thought it'd make it discount business)

Having just lost Silver status (not that it got me much anyways) hoping to make Gold this year with the help of an additional flight or two this year!

Thanks :)

OT, your BNE - PER flight is domestic, so remember you have to go across from T4 at PER to T3. hopefully QF have given enough time for you to get across.
And the QF lounge at T3 at PER is a transit lounge, so you don't have access, if you are QF WP/P1, or travelling J, you will have to use the T4 PER QFd J lounge, if you have time.
If you have time, flying J, you could use the T4 lounge, all depending on how much time you have of course.
Ideally, if I was doing what you are doing, personally, I would have gone BNE - SIN, for the real J experience.
What you are doing, if you are lucky, you will get a 330 from BNE - PER, if you are unlucky, you will get a 737.
Edit: hopefully, they have put you on QF589, for which you would be able to try the PER T4 QF J lounge.
If you are on QF651, it would still be doable to spend some time in the PER T4 QF lounge, as BNE check in would have provided you with BP, they say T3 at PER is not that flash, it was the old (former) VA dom terminal, which I have flown into several times.
Not far to walk from T4 to T3 of course, but your call if you want to get into T3 int security a bit earlier.

We're flying on a 737-800 to Perth... Arriving and departing from Terminal 4 with 3 and a bit hours before flying out to London. So should hopefully get a decent amount of time in the T4 lounge :)

Poochie - T3 and T4 are essentially in the same building, so time will not be a factor. You can just about guarantee the flight from BNE will be in a 737!

Yep, I know, just making a moot point.
Of course, they would make it, as T3 and T4 are next door.
Re: flight from BNE - PER QF651, Just had a look, yes, its listed as a 737.
The next one QF653 is a 330.
Have used the 330 in J when it was 2x2x2, and also now 1x2x1 on QF d, loved it.
Have tried the 737 in J too several times, to some, a plane is just a plane, but to me, flying the 330 is great.

I'm just happy we picked up Business to London for $7k over Christmas! plus happy to be on the Dreamliner for that 17 hour jump. Eep.

You will be flying out to LHR out of PER T3, not T4.
In BNE, you will only pass through Aust dom security, so your passport will be read at PER T3 for Aust outgoing immi, not BNE.
At BNE, you will be flying out of BNE dom to PER, and have to go to the QF check in counter, for bag drop, but as you are both in J, so the queue shouldn't be too bad.
No more Aust outgoing *(green)* immi processing cards, or OPC, so its a time saver now.
If no bags, you can get BP printed from home, but still have to go to a counter to have passport swiped (this is for QF processing only), not Aust immi processing, that one is still in PER.
If with bags, go to counter still, to drop off bags and get passport swiped.
Sometimes, the staff will reprint you a BP, even if you have a home printed one!
And at PER, with 3 hours, if all on spec and on time, you could spend an hour in the T4 QF d J lounge, then go across to T3 1.5 hours prior to PER - LHR dep time.
I have not done the trip you are doing, but have done a lot of ADL - eastern capital cities flights with QF to get to NZ.
Ok, will let the others have their go now.
Enjoy the trip.
