QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic award seats?

This newly minted WP called to request 2 x classic J awards on HKG-SYD with the following results:

7/1/19 QF128 A380 I9 denied
7/1/19 QF118 A330 I9 approved
8/1/19 QF128 A380 I9 denied
9/1/19 QF128 A380 I9 approved

All responses were instant. Very happy with the result considering these dates are peak high season. Ended up taking the A380 option on the 9th - 60k points for the F-sold-as-J seat is pretty hard to turn down! Cheap taxes of $121pp was just icing on the cake.

Hmmm, just unsuccessful in my first request to release a business class reward seat. I'm wanting to move a SYD-YVR classic reward booking to two days later on the same flight number (QF75, 28-Jul). I can see there is substantial availability with 9s everywhere and I9, but was knocked back. How would I plead my case, given that I'm releasing one J seat for another?
Just out of interest, despite trying and failing three times to get a J seat on QF75 on Sat 28-Jul, Qantas has now released them to everyone. Along with MU opened up on the return leg, it is perfect for my itinerary ... if I hadn't had to confirm dates last month.

Anyway, if you want to experience the last QF75 of the season at the pointy end on points, it now has official capacity.

Just had brilliant service from Qantas call centre when I needed to change a flight destination in US. I changed cities because I needed to change travel dates and she asked why? I said because there were no Award flights for changed day. She said, Put in a Request based on your status! Bingo.

I just asked for some D and N class reward seat OOL-SYD and BNE-SYD, same date but want to decide which option I will take. However when I asked about taxes she quoted me an absurd amount of $108.56 ex OOL and $175.18 ex BNE or vice versa! This doesn't sound right at all?
If I search a different date OOL-SYD in J where there is availability the taxes are $39.18 and BNE-SYD in Y are $40.66.
She also said I can finalise the booking online myself, but I cannot see anyway of doing this, the most I can do is select seats?
Any ideas or help, thanks.

I was quoted 16000 points for J OOL-SYD and Y 8000 BNE-SYD this is the standard reward points amount? Also I don't get how to ticket this online without calling in?

I had no luck at all for 2 WP to get seats Honolulu to Adelaide almost 12 months out. These awards never seem to come onto the market and I’ve been tracking them for weeks. Except for 2 six hour flights via Fiji. Nup. In the end I booked Award seats from SFO that are plentiful and we will just have to wing it back to the mainland.

Anyone had any luck on QF opening up J awards on QF63/64 SYD > JNB for May- June 2019?

Reasonable CX availability via HKG exists , but QF have offered almost no J or even Y+ award seats, for a route where good J availability normally exists.

Just placed my first J classic Award request.

Applied for: 21/6/19, 22/6/19 & 23/6/19 .
x 2 J Award seats MEL > SYD > JNB.
All three dates approved.
Booked the 21/6/19.

Applied for 6/7/19.
x 2 J Award seats JNB > SYD > MEL
6/7/19 approved.

One very happy camper and SWMBO will hopefully get to meet all the Feline species in Kruger NP for the first time. :D

I rang the premium line a few month back for 2 award J seats CNS - HKG. The requested dates weren't available but the agent worked hard to find other routes and alternatives. I ended up getting the dates I needed. I was really impressed by the effort rather than just telling me denied.
Made it really worthwhile being P for the first time.

Any recent experience trying to get seats on a QF-code share using EK metal? (i.e., LHR-SYD via DXB?)

I doubt it's possible - QF marketed EK can only be booked as a revenue fare. Classic awards always get an EK flight number.

Had a QF2 LHR-SYD in P released about a year out, after the 3rd try - dates either side.
Previously P requests all the way to SYD on QF2 were declined, even when there was extra F capacity to/from Australia (before 9/10 went via PER).
There is still hope with F redemptions, given that OW options between Australia and Europe have dried up.
