Hi folks, missus and I got hitched last year and she is in the process of changing her surname on all her documents. Does anyone know how to do a name change on a QFF membership? I logged on to my account and could not see any provisions to do so?

Or is it charge up the phone, make a cuppa and phone customer service??

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll need to call for that one.
I have made a minor change (removing an apostrophe because computers kept struggling with it) to my name before and that was easily done over the phone.

Thanks to you both for your replies....phone is on charge......kettle on.:)

Thanks again for the info. Will certainly look into it and I appreciate the link. I thought they might want some sort of documentation.

Yes Ms FM just did it - been nagging her for ages, given she has been married for more than a year and also I had booked flights for her for next January in her married name.

She finally got off her rear end and did it and it was incredibly easy so she told me. A quick phone call and emailing her marriage certificate and it was done immediately.

Thanks FM (and everyone else). Email and copy of cert and all done. Just the wait for the new card.

Thank you everybody for the replies.:)

As an aside to this, not wanting to hijack the thread, but I have a surname with an apostrophe also. Many online forms don't accept it and it can be annoying, but usually not incredibly so. But I've never encountered a problem with bookings or payments because of a missing apostrophe.

Some websites, I have to remember that, QF used to be one of them, but it now accepts the apostrophe with no changes needed. Curious as to why you felt it was necessary?

I found that some airlines couldn't handle the apostrophe and that caused my passenger name to be different to frequent flyer name. While retro claims and changes at checkin were annoying the tipping point was actually a change that happened at Velocity.
All of a sudden I started having my Velocity number drop off bookings and allocated row 3 seats would change to back of the plane.

So I just decided to make the change with all airlines.

The change of name or the marriage?
The name change. I have no plans to get married.

I got my name legally changed around 4 years ago and was sent an updated birth certificate. I sent it to QFF asking for the name on the account to get changed. After a number of attempts over several weeks with no action or response and I had a RTW holiday quickly coming up. It wasn't until I sent a PM to the former Red Roo that anything happened.

I had 2 international trips within about 6 weeks of each other, with new passport and name change happening in between.

At one point, one company I was trying to get the name changed with (I think it was paypal) rejected the change claiming it was the "wrong document", then asked for the exact document I had sent them.

Wife did this last year. QFF even after sending marriage cert and an email and a phone call have not managed to change her name at the login page. When opened however her account shows her married name.
Rather than mess around with marriage cert for SG and AA we just opened a new a/c as zero points balance.

Oh fun...have to do this myself in a few months. Ticket is already booked under new name so hopefully its not too difficult.

As always with Qantas it sounds like it’s inconsistent. :). Ms FM had no trouble, phoned up and emailed her marriage certificate and received a an email very quickly saying it was all done. I added her FF number to two bookings I had done for her in her married name, logged into her account (using her married name) and they were there and everything was correct.

My only concern is that the booking we've made hasnt ticketed, just hoping the name isnt an issue.

hmm - they should be able to sort it out. Both bookings had been made and ticketed in her married name without a FF number attached, so once they changed the account, it was very easy to add the FF number.
