I need to travel MAD-KIX, OW. I will do it in J. CX has a very good OW J price on a good schedule. However the online QF points and status calculator won't calculate MAD-HKG-KIX. Online chat with QFF agent took forever. Agent claimed the two legs with CX in J would earn 8,700 points (about the same as MAD-KIX with AY, so probably accurate) but only 100 SC. According to the QF online calculator HKG-KIX on CX in J earns 80 SCs alone, so if the total on CX is 100 SC, that leaves 20 SC for MAD-HKG (AY earns 120 for HEL-KIX)?

I am teetering on switching to OneWorld after 30 years of *A (just because living back in Australia, and no *A domestic carrier is a real pain) , but if this is the genuine earn for a 12 hour partner flight in J, I need to rethink.

Ideas?

Assuming MAD earns the same as LHR and FRA departures on CX then MAD-HKG will give you 7400 points and 120SC. That's a total of 9900 points (7400+2500) and 200SC (120+80) for your journey.

The agent was incorrect.

MAD-HKG earns 120 SC, as per below table for all partner marketed flights from Western Europe to Hong Kong.

HKG-KIX earns 80 SC. This is a distance based calculation, IATA TPM for this route is 1539mi.

As @GoldCanyon340 already posted, you would earn 200 SC and 9900 QFFP in each direction.

You can view all the partner earning tables here, which should be read in conjunction with the partner earn categories. (All revenue CX J tickets will earn at J rates, but I'm including the earn categories link as some other QF partners - QR, RJ, MH, etc - don't necessarily earn J SCs on all routes/in all J fare buckets)

If you decide to continue with oneworld and QF I'd suggest not sourcing answers or information from the online agents. Their responses are often incorrect.

Thank you so much GoldCanyon350 and sbor90. I’ve been with UA Mileage Plus since its inception in 1987(?), almost 1 million miles with UA since then, and held every status tier from bottom to top, and used my points a lot so I knew the QFF agent was talking through his hat. Quite honestly, I don’t want to switch to OneWorld even though UAMP has reduced earn rates so much. But living in Oz again now, with a QF connected credit card and all domestic on QF, it makes sense to shift. I’m cleaning out my MP account with an award J ticket to France with Thai and ANA. Then I’m done. Thanks again!
