Hi, my partner and I are travelling on QF5 and QF6, Sydney to Frankfurt (and on to London) return in PE. The seat map shows PE being rows 29 through to row 36. I am not familiar with this layout and would appreciate any suggestions on the best seats to select. Its a long trip and getting the most comfortable seats available would be great.
Any other tips to make this trip more enjoyable would be welcomed too.
I'm QF Gold and whilst late in selecting I'm still hoping to be able to get good seats. Also hoping that an OP up to Business comes our way!!

Thanks in advance.

If you are used to flying economy longhaul then PE will be nice.

Try either of the A, B or JK seats, front row is a bit better but not by much so I would forgo the front row as long as you could get any of those window/aisle combinations.

It is PE so any seat will be better than economy.

look at www.seatguru.com, there is a heap of 747 combinations so you just need to figure out which one, but that should show up on your seat selection screen when choosing a seat.

Agree with the Bear :) it won't make a lot of difference on your seats as they are fairly similar.

If you like windows take AB or JK, if you like isle the center isle may not have anyone next to you. Stay away from the noisy people in Y in the back rows. In the version I was on the middle front row had extra leg room under the bulkhead but I am not sure if this is for all versions. Also try seatexpert.com for the allocated aircraft type you will have, NB it does not always stay that way. Have fun and enjoy the trip, peak into the J section (if you dont get an upgrade) and see what you are missing..

go to 'fly/onboard/seatmaps' on QANTAS.COM..747-400 56J/40PE/275Y..shows the PE cabin rows29-36...29JK most legroom.. 29JK has coat locker in front so lesser legroom (but still sufficient)...also 2 bassinets at 29DEFG..depends if you wanna gamble on them being 'used'!!!! next attractive for a pair would be 31AB then32AB,33AB..no pax across the aisle..be a bit wary of 35JK,36JK as increased traffic from cabin crew to/from galley in front and the subsequent light flashes from galley lighting as curtain opened/closed by crew...thats where the eyeshades come in handy!! hopefully i havnt made it 'clear as mud'!!!! ...also agree with others..keep checking in case aircraft config changes!! and enjoy your PE experience :)

Is row 29 2x3x2 or 2x4x2?

Configuration for these flights, row 29 is 2x4x2

Thanks all for the tips so far - I have been fortunate enough to travel J internationally a number of times previously so I certainly know what I'll be (sorely) missing!!

to help 'ease the pain' a bit..PE uses J/C headphones, J/C size pillow, J/C sheet backed blanket, J/C wines and spirits and few other J/C bits n pieces!! just to make you feel more 'at home' :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Ask for an extra pillow and blanket if available. One for your head and one for your feet or under your knees, whatever extra comfort you need.

Moreover, enjoy the great QF5/6 service whilst it's still around!! Will be a sad day when the QF departs FRA for the last time. By far my most travelled route over the last 10 years - never once had a dull or disappointing flight! Won't be the same doing it on EK.
