Sitting in Singapore lounge waiting for qf31 to continue to London.
Was hit by lightning as we flew through a storm leaving Sydney.

Noticed engineers on a cherry picker inspecting top of fuselage and tail. The announcement also mentioned an engine malfunction and engineers are running the faulty engine to diagnose. Not sure if this is connected to lightning or a separate matter.

Probably just being very diligent. Can't afford another major 380 incident.

Interesting they offered all pax refreshment coupons already..and encouraged everyone to leave gate lounge...so I suspect a few hours delay at least.

Lightning hits aircraft all the time, its always prudent to get the aircraft assessed as soon as possible but its not a big deal. Hope you had a pleasant flight!

Funny thing is when I saw the title of the thread I thought of the problems QF is having with the pilots EBA and I assumed that there had been "lighning" industrial action:mrgreen::mrgreen:
