I am flying QF25 (MEL-AKL-LAX) next Tuesday 1st Dec. I purchased an upgrade to the exit row seat online for $160 and it says that I have an exit row from MEL to LAX.

However, I believe that the MEL to AKL flight is operated by JetConnect, so I am not sure if I will get an exit row upgrade on that sector. Does anyone know if I will get an exit row from MEL to AKL even if it is a different seat to the one I selected which is surely a different aircraft?

If not, surely it is misleading to pay $160 to upgrade your seat for the MEL to LAX flight if they only upgrade the AKL to LAX part of the trip. Regardless, I will ask at checkin on Tuesday, but if anyone has any experience on this, it would be appreciated if you could let me know what happens.

Thanks!

trentotoole, welcome to AFF :D

Firstly, what you have purchased is an "exit row seat"; "an upgrade" is normally used here to refer to travel in a higher cabin class than originally booked.

There is no charge for exit row seats for Trans-Tasman flights. I would call Qantas and see if you can have one of these allocated for you.

Note that with the equipment normally used on these flights, the TT flight 737 has 12 exit seats and the 747 has 10 (The A and K seats are not sold due to the Liferaft cowling making those seats worse than the standard seats).

The A& K seats?

Oh dear, they truly suck.
There I was on a Per -Syd redeye, packed, and thought I'd scored when they gave me an exit row seat.
6'4" me and an exit row A seat is not for make the fun.
