Hi,

I want to put my son on QF2241, Sydney to Mount Hotham, this Friday, 30/8/13 but it is now full, is there a service that will watch and tell me if and when a seat becomes available?

I have booked him on a FF seat on Sunday flight as a backup but would prefer to get him there for the weekend if possible - no point missing two days skiing...

It is a Dash-8 so only economy seats to watch out for.

Thanks!

Angus

PS: May be better in the 'Your Questions' area - can someone move it for me if they agree? Thanks!

Expert Flyer has an alert function - it will monitor the fare bucket availability of a specific flight and send an email when it finds any. This is available with the paid service under "Flight Alert ".

I am guessing any found will not be 'cheap'.

Thanks Serfty, I just tried it but got 'The seat map is not available for the selected cabin for this flight.'

I also tried the Sunday, 1 Sept 13, QF2241 flight as there are seats available on that flight but the same error

I guess it does not like Dash-8 planes?

Thanks for your reply - do you know of any other services that be able to do what I need?

Angus

Thanks, I will check out the link you sent me tonight. Might just have to keep checking the Qantas website until I get up to speed...

If a seat does appear it is going to be expensive, in the order of the $631 for full Y class.

It is possible that such a fare can be waitlisted. Since you would be paying a lot anyway, I suggest you can Qantas and ask. It will cost you a service fee should the booking go through.

Thanks. I think I am going to fly him to Albury and do the 5 hour round trip and pick him up from there.

Should be able to do it in 4 hours round-trip (not including airport time) ;)

One year when I was living at MHU, we decided a Maccas run was in order.....
Still holds my personal record for longest Maccas run ;)

Is that 4 hours at the speed limit? I hear Victorian Police don't need to advertise speed cameras and are pretty good at catching people speeding, especially around Mansfield.

I sometimes might go up to 10Km/h over in NSW, which never gets me into trouble - do you know what sort of speed tolerance the VIC Police seem to allow?

Thanks!

Don't speed in VIC!!

Yep - 4 hours at the speed limit (assuming the Hotham road is clear and dry).

But it has been a few years since I've done it and it's possible some of the limits have been lowered.

Don't push it and you'll find your 5 hr estimate should give you plenty to spare. :)
