Hi everyone,

I have done a search and couldn't find anything relevant.

My wife and I are travelling LHR-SIN on QF2 in January. We have bought Business seats and requested a points upgrade (44,000 per person) to First.

My question was just what members thought the chances are of getting this? I am Plat and she is Bronze. I know if we are successful it will only be 24-48 hours before departure. Are they likely to offer me the upgrade and not her which of course would be declined.

Just curious. If nothing comes of it we will be more than happy in Business!

Are you both on the same PNR? if so then it's an all or nothing upgrade. If separate tickets then you'll be upgraded according to your own status.

Oh and it's not an offer to upgrade, it is; your seat has been upgraded according to your request and we've moved you. Your previous seat has been reallocated.

Thanks, yes, same PNR. Bad wording on my part, understand it's not an offer as such!

I would think the chances of getting upgrades are ever dwindling due to QF having half the amount of F seats it used to have ex-LHR.
It will depend on the day of the week and loads.
On my last QF2 travelling alone as a P1 I did not get a points upgrade.
Good luck and let us know how you go

Indeed. I'm still disappointed there's only the one QF A380 service a day to/from LHR.

It's unclear whether Project Sunrise will help for those flying the whole way between LHR and AU.

With a smaller plane than the A380 there may be less F seats, however MEL and possibly BNE flights would mean more services with F meaning that potentially there would be more seats in total, but historically at least the SYD services tend to be more popular.

QF would be hoping with Project Sunrise that the lure of direct non-stop will win them a greater share of the F market.

Under Your Questions > Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk you can ask about the loads on a particular flight you're interested in. However the loads only become a fairly accurate guide as to upgrade chances days out from the flight. With solo upgrade requests prioritised over couples all else being equal that does complicate things as you don't know how many solo travellers with WP status will have requested upgrades. Flying as a couple on the one booking also means that you weren't able to apply for an upgrade as late as at the gate.
