Canberra Raiders under 20s at centre of Qantas investigation

A member of the Raiders' under-20s coaching staff was being investigated for "disruptive behaviour" that led to alcohol service being banned on a Qantas flight on Sunday night.

.....

A decision was made to suspend alcohol service on the 90-minute QantasLink flight QF1553.

......

It is believed passengers complained of foul language and rowdy behaviour in the lounge and on the flight, and the coaching staff member had to be ordered to sit down and fasten his seatbelt while the plane was preparing for take-off, after standing up to go and use the bathroom.

Sounds like he shouldn't have been allowed to even board. Still he probably wont fly for work again.

You'd think there'd be policy in place for sporting teams not to visit lounges before a flight. Enough morons out there giving them a bad name.

Why? The lounge isn't the issue, it's the self discipline of the person involved, and not the fact they are in a lounge.

The issue is probably the fact the grog is free. Put young blokes travelling with sports teams in a lounge with free grog and some will drink as much as they can pour down their throat in the time available (there are many case histories which show that a lot of rugby players & associates tend to have a propensity to be morons when they get together)
The teams need to impose limits - but again history shows that the club officials are nearly as bad as their charges.

In season I've only ever seen very well-behaved sporting teams (of pretty much every code, professional or junior) in lounges and onboard. Must be end of season stupidity. Nowadays I would assume / hope the professional teams at least would be much more cautious.

Well the booze might be "free" but except for the standard QC wine, you need to go to the bar to get drinks. RSA should have been in operation in the lounge.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The Parramatta Eels NRL team is currently in the SYD QP and they're all being quiet and respectful. None of them are drinking and a couple of the players were happy to take a selfie with one of the kids in the lounge. I certainly don't see a problem.

The difference between responsible adults and morons.
