Scheduled to depart at 20:10 today. Got a SMS saying was late departure at 23:00. Got to airport at 17:00 to meet a friend on same flight. Now departing at 03:05.

Now at Regal Hotel Airport and had buffet (Seafood) but didn't eat any.

I now have a massive headache and don't wanna get up at 1am for the flight. SUCKS!!!!!!!!

:(

Back in airport to use free wifi, then back to hotel ...

I have not had much luck on QF67/68 from PER.

I saw that QF67/68 was cancelled yesterday (?).

QF are generally very good at looking after (status) pax when these delays occur. I found that to be the case.

Good luck and safe trip~!

Just walked into the house. ... what a long flight. Nobody was allowed to depart the aircraft until AQIS came on as there was reports of lots of coughing.

Immigration wasn't busy at all. SmartGate ROCKS!!!

I hope my QF128 in a few weeks is less "interesting" than yours. The only reason I am taking QF128 is that I need to be home by a certain time and QF98 does not operate on the day I need to travel.

Don't worry NM, I think it was just me that had an entertaining QF127 and QF128 ...

I used my chinese to get my friend on a CX flight departing at around 1900, and that was about 1830 when I made the complaint. Who ever thought my chinese was bold enough to be firm with those asians

Apparentally the original aircraft for QF128 broke and had to turn back to SYD, I haven't seen anything in the media about it though.

I don't believe this is the case - certainly the Qantas site doesn't reflect it leaving the gate and then returning. It was severely delayed though:

Flight No. From To Scheduled Departure Actual Departure Scheduled Arrival Actual Arrival Status

QF127 Sydney Hong Kong 12:00 20:28 17:50 01:56 (Sat) Landed

The QF fleet is starting to get a bit old thanks to the delays with the A380 and the dreamliners, expect more delays as aircraft go U/S moving forward, its part of getting old

Alot of my rellies in HKG said to me "Why do you fly Qantas? Everyone here knows they are old, and in the last year, very unreliable and unsafe " ... they seem to have a feeling it's getting scary to fly QF  If only we had more competition in AUS again! Bring back AN

Who do they prefer to fly?

They prefer CX, but not sure why they say that, that's just what they said ... alot of people don't like QF in HKG from their media reports.

Looks like QF had an issue with aircraft availability due to maintenance delays, OEI operated the delayed QF128 (its one of the newest 744's) and next day a positioning flight to HKG also operated.

Naturally CX has the biggest range of flight options from HKG so it likely to be the first choice of people based in Hong Kong.

There's certainly nothing unsafe about Qantas, however the term unreliable is becoming more appropriate. Of the 60-70 Qantas sectors I've taken in the last year, probably 75% of them have had either a major schedule change or a significant delay.

Wow you have had a bad run. I was just lamenting over the weekend that the only delayed flight I have experienced this year was a CX HKG-SIN flight that was delayed about 45 mins. And that includes enough flying to qualify for AA Executive Platinum status level, so should be a reasonable sample size. 80% have been Qantas operated flights.

Yes it hasn't been a good year. To be more accurate... probably 95% of my bookings have been rescheduled however as they are generally A-B-C it's often only the A-B or B-C that was rescheduled/delayed so I let them off a bit.

Best case I've had was a 40 minute change, the majority of them suffered a 6-7 hour change and one one occasion I had 3 re-routings and about 6 time changes on the one reservation!

Oddly enough I'm yet to hear the word "sorry" come out of the mouth of any member of Qantas staff.

I was not offered an apology for two time changes on my QF128 .... not that I was expecting one  ... it's not hard to say sorry, I mean, it is part of customer service right? Sure, it's not their fault, but still, the customer is always right :)

Strangely enough, some customer focussed organisations train their staff to never say sorry. Not sure if Qantas is one that does this or not.

Sorry can mean accepting liability for something that went wrong, and can have legal implications.

Seems like Qantas isn't having much luck on the HKG run. I was on QF127 on the 19th of November and had the delight of a more than four hour delay, announced on a rolling basis. This was coupled with the plane eventually being substituted from a four class to a two class plane, so had the joy of being downgraded from Premium Economy to Economy. Makes you glad to have club access though, that's for sure - and I think I got to see the entire menu on offer (and there was some tasty beef goulash and scones with jam and cream wheeled out at various times. :D)
