After being disappointed with VA on a number of things, I thought maybe it was worth giving QF a go (I have never flown with anyone but VA). So I contacted QF and asked for a status match given that they were now flying out of OOL and this wasn't previously an option. (this was last year) But, what they said was they have already filled their allocation of 2000 status matches for GC FF's ? I was kind of surprised by this. It wasn't all over the forums at the time and status matching 2000 FF's sounds like a big deal if true. There must be dozens and dozens here that were status matched if QF isn't spinning stories. Just interested. Something made me think of it.

I missed that. Definitely also says 2000 as well. I wasn't previously a QF status holder nor had I ever flown with them so certainly didn't apply. I'm surprised though that they didn't take advantage when the opportunity was their to potential take some business when someone is asking. Interesting.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I didn't realise they had a limit. I assume some people status match even though it is unlikely they will do use it. Just in case sort of thing. If that is the case we probably should not do that because it deprives others. I haven't ever taken it up by the way.

I know a number of elite VFF members who have tried for a QF SM and to the best of my knowledge, all have been point blank rejected on the basis that they don't believe they should disadvantage their own BIS elites.

The OOL thing was not a SM in the same context.

I'm thinking the QF rebuttals are understandable, as I'm pretty sure there are now many VFF elites who have got there via family pooling.....which QF do not currently recognise as an acceptable way to achieve frequent flyer status. (I support VFF family pooling BTW. It'll get me to plat). I also like the stance taken by QF to protect their own status tiers but of course they should make an acception just for me ;)!
