Hi
just looking a trips for xmas and noticed an extra direct QF flight to Singapore
QF77 leaving at 1600 - 2135
Return Qf78 2300- 0420+1
Did a quick google search and AFF search and couldn't see anyone mention anything
Will this stay? Ps shame its still a 737-800!!
:)

QF77/78 will operate 3 times per week, so its an increase from daily to 10 times weekly. The current timetable indicates they will stick post-introduction, but presumably that depends on how they perform.

737-800 aircraft are being replaced with smaller jets on some intra-WA routes, hence the availability to do extra services to Singapore with the 737.

Always nice to see new QF flights, although I have no interest in the return QF78 redeye on a Boeing 737!

Thanks for the advice about the extra flight from PER -> SIN. The flight fits in perfectly with our tentative arrangements towards the end of the year. I prefer the midday departure but am very happy to have the 4 pm option as a backup. We are changing to QR in SIN for onward flights to Europe.

Shame? - it's a disgrace..

Even on the BSI aircraft with IFE? I can just about play backgammon for 4 hours and time will pass quickly. ;)

Anyone else seeing absolutely no U availability on these, even a year out? Searching as SG. Seem to be plenty of X, but not interested in those.

Not sure what a BSI aircraft is, but the flight on a 737 is 5h 20m..
They are the new 737s Qantas is using. Have seat back IFE with games and movies already loaded. They are in the armrest in row 4 and cannot be used for take off and landing.

I love it when they are used to operate my SYD-BNE flights. Helps pass the time on an otherwise boring flight.

I could handle 5+ hours in a BSI 737 if it wasn't an overnight flight arriving at 4am ;)

Doesn't it arrive back just in time for the connections to Eastern states?

I used to love getting 45 SCs routing via PER and one time went via MEL and PER for 55 SCs. I really miss the bugs with QF pricing ex-SIN. :(

You'd be in the minority there JohnK!

I'll stay with SIA until they get a larger aircraft on the route.

But that's the classic frequency v schedule debate.

If QF manages to fill the route double daily then they might consider upgauging (subject to equipment) but obviously at the expense of frequency.

SQ can fill a much larger aircraft due to the amount of thru traffic they can generate to other Asian destinations and Europe/ Americas

I certainly wouldn't complain if they replaced the 737 redeye with an A330 for the earlier flight...

I posted about this around a month ago, when booking on the new flights. Won't get me back unless we get an A330 back.

QF are in a bit of a pickle on PER-SIN and I cannot see a way out for them at the moment.

As someone who travels PER-SIN v.v on a 6 to 8 week basis, I am yet to travel on QF since the reintroduction of the route and will not anytime soon.

TZ (and therefore 3K via PBG) slaughter QF on price if you book more than a month or two ahead. SQ slaughter QF on schedule, connection options in Asia and on service and aircraft quality. QF are expensive, have no full service connections in Asia and operate a poor aircraft choice with a poor schedule.

Moving back to an A330 with new J and a better schedule (leave earlier from PER so you have more connection options in SIN to Asia or have the day in SIN) would be a start at least. But they would have to fill it versus the stiff completion on the route.
