Can't find the last similar thread but I haven't been able to access OLCI today.

Can do "select seats" but OLCI just times out.

It has been p*ssing down in Bris today if that's relevant?

Not OLCI, but I did switch from 4F to 4A on my Tuesday flight about 15 minutes ago, so part of it is working...

Problems with QF Online check-in tonight?

Has anyone been able to check-in online on the Qantas website? Been trying for the last hour and keep getting a timeout error...

I was able to OLCI earlier today without any hassles....

Yes, it was all good again at 5am this morning. Damn inconvenient though.
The dark side of my brain kept telling me that QF would phase-out OLCI after NGCI gets longer legs:shock:

It was misbehaving last Saturday...I tried repeatedly and just got a message saying OLCI was not available; yet when I got to the airport, the checkin agent told me I showed as having checked-in online! Hmmmm...

Is anyone having issues today?

I can't access OLCI and even the Qantas rep that I spoke to could not explain why I was having trouble.

So much for me trying to be organised!

Nope worked for me just then!

I did OLCI today for mel-hba tomorrow and I'm in 28J!!!!! Whatever it is, the seat allocation came up with a 3-4-3 config. It did not show an aircraft type.
Either the system is stuffed, or there are some new aircraft flying to Hobart. Then again, i might be sitting on the wing

Now that I think of it, maybe the flight number 1011 is the aircraft type.
Maybe I'm flying to Hobart in a TriStar - hope I make it

Well, the tristar turned out to be a 767 - possibly because QF had a lot of customers to fly back from the cricket in Tassie.

Hobart airport is obviously not set up for the large jets and it was fun to be on board while they parked it between a jetstar 320 and a Virgin 737.

when we got off down the wheel out stairs (!) the ground staff were all staring at it due to the size and where it parked. I noticed nothing on the tarmac to line the wheels up.

It was a little like landing at LAX in the early days of the 380 with everyone stopping to watch

Anyone know what the largest aircraft type can land at Hobart?

Courtesy wiki (not always the most accurate......):

wikipedia said:
Hobart Airport has one runway, 12/30, which is aligned north–west to south–east, is 2,251 metres (7,385 ft) long and 45 metres (148 ft) wide.[5] The high strength flexible runway was constructed with an asphaltic concrete surface[12] and is adequate for unrestricted operations up to and including Boeing 767 and Airbus A300 aircraft. Boeing 777/747 aircraft can operate with a weight restriction.[12] The current runway length is adequate for direct flights to New Zealand, Cairns, Perth, Singapore and Jakarta.[12] For longer range operations, a weight limit is imposed for aircraft landing and on take off. The runway conforms to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority's standards

The landing length required at Hobart for a Boeing 747 at maximum operational landing weight is 2,400 metres (7,900 ft), a minimum runway extension of 150 metres (490 ft) would be beneficial to the operation of the airport.

It's when you have to climb up or down those stairs, you realise how far off the ground you are!

A QF 747 has visited before. But I have no idea what the payload was.

When you are on the ground and you look up, it is only then that you realise how bloody big they are. And because we always use airbridges, you don't get to see it very often.
It would be interesting to stand on the ground under a 380 and look up  although if you were doing that, I guess someone or something would be in the news for whatever reason!

The closest I've been is going right past one in the transfer bus at Sydney Airport. They are enormous - I wish I had my camera prepared.

Maybe ask one of the pax of QF32......

To me the B747 looks bigger from the ground. Compared to the A380 from what I have seen at Airshows. Boeing has a classic look about it as well, the A380 just looks like a big bus.
