Hi everyone,

I know this must be somewhere on the site but can’t find it :(

I’m flying QF29 MEL-HKG 10.35 am next Friday and this will be my last flight out of Melbourne as a QF Platinum member. This means a last chance at the QF MEL F Lounge.

Last time I was there was for a Emirates flight leaving late afternoon and there was no Spa treatment at that time. This time with a morning flight I’m hoping they are open and if they are I’ll check in 3 hours before to maximise chance of getting a booking.

So questions;
1) does anyone know the operating hours of Spa treatments?
2) any thoughts on chance of booking a treatment at 8 am - 9.30 am on Friday morning?
3) any experiences using the service and recommendations?

I’ll be posting a review of the lounge experience and the upcoming Nepal & Tibet trip.

Thanks so much @perthjay85 didn’t see that at all DOH!

I’ll give it a go now 3 hour checkin coming up. Hopefully others can help with insights into the service :)

Not a problem at all.
Good luck with getting a spot and I look forward to reading about it.

I'm planning to be able to use that lounge in the future.

No the information on Qantas website is incorrect and has been for some time.

I was in the lounge this weekend. Spa times are - according to one of the therapists - a little variable at the moment given daylight savings and some seasonal flights. But basically it’s open from about 8am to 4 pm. Then from 7pm to 10pm, every night.

You might be lucky with a very early appointment. But a lot of slots will be booked in advance by First class passengers flying to Singapore. I’d get there ASAP and try your luck. I was offered a 1pm slot on entering the lounge at 12:45 — declined as I already had one booked for 14:30!

I think the spa is great. Treatments are only 15 minutes. But a nice way to start a flight.

As for recommendations — I now always have the foot therapy. Minimal time wasted between greeting and getting started!

Spa times not quite as generous at this time. My understanding is the spa shuts around midday, but is open again every evening from 7 to 10pm.

Happy to be corrected though.

Oh great, it looks like I won't make it in time before an upcoming flight at 14:45. Even if I do, I'm sure I'll be told it's full seeing I'm booked on JQ to SYD...

I hope I'm wrong. Let us know how you get on.

I visited the lounge mid-afternoon on 31 December and had no problem getting a session for 3pm. Might have changed in the last fortnight but I was flying out on QF9 which leaves daily at 5pm.

I've not been in after 12pm and before 5pm for some time so I'd take your experience as more accurate. Perhaps it remains as I posted back in October.

Suspect I was spun a yarn. Was told it now has "very restricted hours". Might have been to dissuade me from doing my usual and seeking to make advance bookings.

This was the first time I'd visited that lounge and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was for that time of day and I had a pick of session time. The previous week I visited the SYD F lounge and it was a zoo with lots of kids running around and I couldn't get a session even though I was there for 5 hours from before midday. Going to have to try for more departures from MEL from now on :)

Just had a facial for my poor sunburnt face (no thanks to the harsh sun in PER over the Australia Day long weekend)! Entered the lounge around noon but was told the spa was full. But while drying off after a shower, I heard my name being paged at 12:25 - there was a spot available at 12:30. Now having lunch from the summer menu...

Excellent.

Apologies all for the wrong info.

No worries! I did ask the therapist about the opening hours and she indicated that the spa is open from 8 am to 10 pm daily...

On a separate note, all 4 bathrooms had not been cleaned after QF35 had boarded even though I waited for almost half an hour so I ended up showering in one of them with used towels all over the floor.

That's unusual. Normally cleaned quite promptly in my experience. Why I often use the suites even if not showering, before or after the spa.

Plates weren't cleared from my table for some time so I had to subtly direct my gaze towards it when I asked for the dessert menu after this too wasn't forthcoming...

Fewer staff on a public holiday??

No word yet on whether the spa will open during the period when the LAX service is downgauged from an A380 to a B787 without First class...
