Hi all,

I ask this "simple" question here as no thread I looked up had a the answer, and I trust the opinions of members here than my own ability to discern facts from the QFF website.

I have a 17 year old daughter who is travelling solo BNE-CBR later this year, in business class. Can she access the BNE lounge?

Short answer is no, in my understanding. Due to liquor licensing laws, must be accompanied by an adult.

I seem to recall that due to the license starting at midday access was possible in the morning but that may have been speculation in a previous thread

Just looked up Zac George's blog and he said he would invite someone into the lounge with him to get around the age restriction.

Who is Zac George? (pardon my insular ignorance if this should be obvious....)

Unless I'm missing something here, how can a minor invite another minor into a place where alcohol is served?

I think you have misunderstood. The minor would invite an adult into the lounge to get around the liquor licensing conditions

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago and apparently a minor cannot enter a lounge unaccompanied.

I obviously have misunderstood. The OP's daughter was said to be 17, and Zac George is said to be a minor, neither are adults?

Yes. So Zac guests in a random stranger over 18 years of age so he’s no longer unaccompanied by an adult.

Thanks, the penny dropped on that bit. I interpreted that the offer from Zac was made to her. That said, it seems either Dad must stay in the lounge with the daughter until her flight departs, or a 17 year old female needs to invite in a 'random adult stranger'?

No one cares or knows once you are inside.

Well, unless it involves an AFF’er or funny/irritating passenger.

The tale of a former (?) member Josh D comes to mind. Revoked lounge access as he was a minor and traveling solo.
