Just found the following on the Qantas website. Was wondering when the service would be extended.

Cheers,
PM

Get sleepy in Business. Our new sleep service, including a new mattress, duvet and turndown service, is now rolling out in International Business cabins across the network. Enjoy the service on flights QF107 and 108 to LA now, soon to be followed by more flights to LA from 17 December; Dallas, Johannesburg and New York from 7 January; Singapore, London and Frankfurt from 14 January; and Hong Kong, Narita, Bangkok, Jakarta, Shanghai and Manila from 28 January 2013. Why not try our T2 Wellbeing tea before you go to bed? Our customers are telling us they love it.

But just in time for my HKG-SYD flight on the 31st!! :)

are they putting on more staff to enable them to do this? my last J flight took 3 hours just to serve dinner on the 380, might need to make my own bed! :)

Was J relatively full ?

yes i think so and i was in the last row due to last minute upgrade coming through - the lack of service was noticeable though, there simply are not enough crew on the upper deck, i remember going to the forward bar to get a drink in the middle of dinner to find that Emerald City had been fully fed, watered and gone to sleep already!

There are rumours/facts that some A380 services are going out understaffed due to "staffing issues", so this may have had something to do with it.....

There are minimum staffing levels that have to be adhered to.

(Whether they normally fly with more is another matter..)

Yep but Qantas flies with more than the legal minimum, so maybe what the poster above was saying is true.

Correct

QF currently have 21 crew on the A380 from memory and they have increased the number of seats and not the crew (again from memory)

Again from memory 8 are in J, but perhaps 7 after the change a year or two back... But it's still less than any other A380 operator (again from memory)

i've heard this too..from a very reliable source..as long as QF meet minimum crew as per CASA regulations (1 cabin crew per door i think on a380)..then they can 'get away' with min 16 cabin crew)... please correct me if im misinformed

I am flying to Narita on Jan 24 and return mid Feb. I am booked in J, on the way over i currently have a Old First Seat up the front , i have not sat in first seat before when sold as J, so curious even though my flight out is before business sleeper service, will the crew be using the sleeper equipment it uses when First is sold and used ?
