Hi All,

Glad to join AFF, you all have such a wealth of information. My situation is I commute PER - SYD return about every two weeks and I am residential here so pay for my flights but can book more than six months in advance, so its all in Economy. Which for me is fine as its normally the refurbished A330's and food/entertainment is very good. In peak periods even if no one has booked it has become increasingly difficult to book the cheaper Sale or Red e Deal even this far out, as Qantas has changed its fare modelling. Which in my case could mean I spend less with them as I turn to Virgin when this occurs. Anyway I have looked at Expert Flyer and understand the basics of the Class/Bucket codes and seats remaining but wanted to know if new codes are put in if a sale occurs and what exactly does each letter mean in each bucket besides the standard class types (unable to hyper-link as newbie) qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/program/classTypes#for-travel-on-and-from-18-february-2015 I realise the sliding scale of dollars to flexibility from/to Y B H K M L V S N Q O X E but do not know how to best capture a bucket to a discounted fare when available. For example an O+ bucket fare can be different on one day to the next day. So just putting an alert for that would not work. Its like the O+ changes if its a sale. The E4, flight 1 below, will always be cheaper as its the lowest of all. Also can a new O+ bucket be placed into Flight 2 or E+ in flight 3. I also noticed the G+ bucket never has any seats what's this for? What are your best suggestion to enable me to do this. Thanks in advance. :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

G is used for group bookings. It's always 0 as group bookings are manually confirmed from waitlist. You will also want to ignore X - that's used for economy reward bookings.

Generally true QF domestic sales use E class and in some sales O class gets used. You could set an alert for E and O class but you also need a sale at the same time.

Thanks madrooster that is very helpful. I was wondering how they used the sale fares with the E & O class. Do they normally add a new bucket/class in later if a flight is say 6 months away and a Sale is on ie a new O+ bucket be placed into Flight 2 or E+ in flight 3 or is it more probable, that for this particular flight it is not applicable, as its more of a peak service?
