Ms Chooms and I are off to coughet next week and I was checking on the bookings (hoping for an early points upgrade) when I got the "your flight has changed" message. I thought, fair enough I better suss this out.

I had booked the flights over the phone and specifically asked to ensure I was booked on the QF4218 and QF4249 codeshare on Jetstar Asia flights SIN-HKT-SIN (3K537 and 3K536 respectively).

Upon looking at the changes to my booking, we have been moved from the QF flight number to the 3K flight number, our seats have changed and I am assuming no QF FFPs/SCs or baggage transfer in SIN.

I am currently on the phone to QF Premium right now trying to sort out what has happened, but I am not happy if they wont change it back.

Well, we still get FFPs/SCs and transfers are no problem. I have been told QF are no longer codesharing on this route... interesting.

Never assume.

If you aren't credited with the points/SC for the new 3K flight SIN/HKT/SIN then ask for ORC as it was an involuntary sked change.

Also your new flights are in the same pnr and same ticket as your Aust to SIN flights so that won't affect your bags being through checked to HKT nor the ability to get your 3K boarding passes SIN/HKT.

Take a copy of your original itinerary showing the QF codeshare flights in the same pnr plus the latest itinerary with the 3K flights just in case they don't show up as on carriage but I think they will.

The JQ system is ticketless so they need to get some kind of confirmation from QF that the booking is paid and ticketed.

Sounds like the original ticketing info has dropped out with the new flight bookings.

I'm sure QF res will have seen that issue before and know what to do to rectify the issue because they will be a lot of people in the same boat as you.

Do remember that booking QF codeshares on Jetstar in general does not earn points or SCs. The only way to earn points and SCs on Jetstar is to book with Jetstar and add a bundle.

* Qantas Points and Status Credits are not earned on Qantas Codeshare flights (ie with a QF flight number) operated by Jetstar Airline other than in booking classes of Y B H K or L (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product)

Hi Chooms,

Same thing happened to me. We're off tomorrow (Wed) morning on QF35 then codeshare QF4218 to HKT for family holiday. Got a call this morning to notify of change of flight number to 3K537. When it was explained that QF had stopped codesharing with 3K, I asked the same questions and was told it would not affect anything - bags still checked through and allocated seating maintained. I didn't think SC/points would be earned anyway. I didn't ask and only just thought to wonder if lounge access in SIN will be affected. I'll take the original eticket showing the codeshare booking in case that in necessary or can help. Will be really annoyed if that is withdrawn.

BTW, we're staying at Karon beach until July 3. Maybe see you there!

Mike

Lounge access has nothing to do with QF codeshare. Took 3K 537 as a standalone flight three weeks ago - no dramas with lounge access. Only problems at SIN with lounge access for 3K flights is if they leave before the lounge is open mid afternoon.

If you had baggage allowance, check with them. We originally had 30kgs each and now this is showing:

I'm about to call QF back myself....

Not always.
I booked a CBR-NRT last year with a travel agent. Outbound with JQ ex MEL in J. inbound with QF in W. Asked the agent about points/SC on the JQ flight and bundles. She had no idea what I was talking about and looked it all up on the JQ site while waiting on hold with QF ticketing.
Ended up with the JQ flight booked in J, no bundles added, full QF points/SC.

The newly issued eticket has 3K conditions including:
6. Baggage Allowance:
Cabin Baggage: Each passenger (except infants not occupying a seat) is permitted 1 item of Cabin Baggage and 1 other small item (eg. laptop, handbag,
suitpack). • Dimensions of main item must not exceed 56cm (width) + 36cm (height) + 23cm (depth).
- If the small item is a suitpack, then it must be non-rigid and unfolded, and the dimensions must not exceed 60cm (width) + 114cm (height) + 11cm(depth).
- Total weight of all Cabin Baggage must not exceed 10kg.
- Each piece must be able to fit under the seat in front of you or fit in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft. • If any piece of baggage
does not comply with any of these conditions, it must be checked in to the aircraft hold.
Checked Baggage: Each passenger (except infants not occupying an aircraft seat) is entitled to check in up to 20kg of baggage for carriage in the aircraft
hold at no charge. At Jetstar's discretion, excess baggage may be accepted for a fee.
- Passengers must ensure all baggage is packed appropriately before being presented at check in and no single item may exceed 32kg in weight.
- Bulky items may be included within the 20kg allowance, subject to space availability.
- Passengers who anticipate having bulky items or excess baggage should arrive at the airport to check in 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.
- We may refuse to carry any piece of Baggage that does not comply with the Jetstar policy

So baggage is free.

Regarding flight connections:
3. No Flight Connections Provided: Jetstar is a low cost 'point-to-point' airline, which does not provide flight connections or baggage transfer. It is the
Passenger's responsibility when making bookings to allow time for Baggage collection and recheck on to services of other airlines for onward connecting
flights or subsequent Jetstar flights. While we will try to carry you and your Baggage in accordance with the date and time of the flights specified, it does not
guarantee it will be able to do so. Schedules may change without notice for a range of reasons including but not limited to bad weather, air traffic control
delays, strikes, technical disruptions and late inbound aircraft. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jetstar excludes liability for any costs, expenses, losses
or damages incurred by the Passenger as a result of failure to meet a schedule, including without limitation any missed connecting flights or other travel
arrangements.

So check through might be an issue, unless QF take responsibility for it. We have a 3 hour transit so plenty of time either way.

Our return flight is JQ18 direct HKT - MEL. According to Manage your Booking section of QF website, and the Jetstar website, we have 20kg checked luggage included.

Booking with a bundle, results in getting a particular earning fare class. I'd guess that J is that earning fare class for business. Hard to confirm because the airline earning table isn't displaying properly. Also worth noting that the quoted bit is about QF codeshares on JQ flights, which probably doesn't apply if you booked a JQ flight number. In case case it was codeshares QF flights on JQ which will only earn in YBHK, L if a oneworld product.

Spoke with QF a couple of times to clear things up.

It has all happened because QF have ceased codesharing on the 3K flights on that route.

My QF flight number changed to a 3K flight number and we have been booked into the 'B' fare bucket. This does not get us a meal or voucher, but it does get us FFPs/SCs, 30kg luggage (as that is what we had in the original booking) and bags tagged/BPs all the way through connecting flights.

My concern is the connection in SIN between the 3K HKT-SIN to the QF SIN-BNE flight. It is a 40min transit and I am not looking forward to what will happen should 3K be late into SIN and we miss the BNE flight. All flights are still booked on the same PNR so hopefully that works in our favour.

Not sure how you'll go with a 40min transit, codeshare or not. If you do miss the connection, I suppose they'll fly you out on the 6 via SYD.

Trip been and gone.

Bags checked through to end destination both ways (30kgs). Had $S10 spend on snacks on the HKT-SIN flight (even with this not being part of the original ticket).

Had to collect BP for QF52 flight in Singapore and made the connection with ease... even got 20mins in the lounge.

No points or SCs, but this wasn't part of the original booking either.

Back from our trip too (MEL-SIN-HKT-MEL). All went seamlessly - bag checked through and BPs issued from MEL - HKT. Spent most of the transit time at QF lounge in SIN. SIN - HKT on 3K537 flight was fine, also got S$10 vouchers per person (x5 for us) which we spent on combo of drinks and duty free. Nice surprise!
