Hi Guys

I have my mum booked on a Award ticket to visit some family in USA in August. I have the LAX return tickets on QF award, and then paid tickets on AA to SFO return. I allowed 3.5 hours between her landing in LAX before her flight to SFO.

As a family we always travelled a lot when younger, however my mum is older now and is a bit scared by LAX airport and having to transit. First of all, can i merge these bookings so her luggage is tagged through to SFO some how? Or would this be done at check in at airpot?

Secondly, is there any Fast Track or concierge or airport guide kind of service who could meet her as she gets off the Qantas flight, and get her through immigration, baggage and help her get checked in for her connecting AA flight?

Cheers guys

The QF check-in agent in Australia should be able to link the tickets and check the bag through to SFO I believe - either way you still need to collect your bag in LAX to go through immigration.

Transfer in LAX to AA is easy - go through customs, collect and drop your bag on the transfer conveyor belt as you exit then turn right at the street walk to the first terminal you find, go up the elevator or escalator and enter the AA terminal through the security check then proceed to your gate.

Oh great thanks ausflyer! Should have realised both being one world they probably would be close.

Thanks for your help!

For the first Question, Qantas will indeed check luggage all the way to SFO just make sure you have copies of both e-tickets with upon check-in in Oz - your Mum will still need to collect her luggage at LAX, pass customs then redeposit before heading to T4.

AA do offer a concierge "5 Star" service. It's pricey, but I believe they do do it at LAX.

Check it out on AA.com.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for all that guys,

I know when you land in LAX you have to clear customs etc and then drop luggage on carousel to connect to AA.

ON the return , when checking in at SFO , it will be 2 itinearys again will the agent check the bags right through from SFO to MEL or once again would you need to pick bags up in LAX and walk them somewhere?

THanks again!

Check in with both itineraries and the agent should tag them both to MEL.

In LAX you simply need to hop on the transfer bus airside in T4 to transfer to TBIT. Your bags will be in MEL.
