Qatar vs Emirates in J - which is best for sleeping?

Hi there all, just a quick question.

For tall travellers, which has a longer / bed - Qatar or Emirates.

I have flown Emirates many times and although I love the bar on the A380, the seat is not the longest there is. Is Qatar any better?

As long as it isnt Emirates 777 then I imagine both are fine.

Which aircraft are you comparing? I assume on EK it is the 380.

QR use the BE Super Diamond seat in the 380, 350 and 788 with an 80 inch seat pitch (this may not be the bed length however). This is the same seat VA use in the 332 and 77W.

QR use an older seat in the 77W in a 2-2-2 arrangement with a 78 inch seat pitch (again, this may not be the bed length).

The best service I have ever received on EK I would generously describe as 'very average' and it is rumoured that QR is far better in J. I have 20+ hours to experience it for myself (on the 350 in J) in a few weeks time....

Is the legroom different at the bulkheads for the QR version of the BE Super Diamond seat? It is not noticeably different on the VA 332 using the same seat...

Yea, slightly better. After being not very comfortable in standard seat on A350 I got bulkhead on A380 and it was less restrictive.

QR really depends on the aircraft for the size of the seat as mentioned in previous posts, but you’ll get way better service on QR no matter which seat. Plus the lounge is much less insane (as is DOH as a port) IMHO

There is a slight difference in flat bed lengths within the Emirates A380 J seats. The B, D, G and J seats extend to 178cms whilst the A, E, F, and K seats turn into a 200cm bed.

Agree with this. Business lounge in Doha is better with far less people.
And also don't see much ponit traveling with EK as it accumulates QF points at lower rate and no status points at all compre to Qatar.

If you book EK metal on a QF code you get full points and status

I would say in general, a reverse herringbone is going to be longer in terms of bed length than the staggered cube type arrangement of EK and TG. Although there are exceptions as Kelvedon points out. Unfortunately TG doesn't mirror the longer window seat
