Hi, here's my situation. I've read that Qatar's firm date for joining oneworld is October?

I currently have 80 Q-points in my Qatar account (Burgundy).

Anyway, in November, I'm taking a trip from PER-LHR return via DBX on Emirates/Qantas. The equivalent trip on Qatar would net me 70 Q-points, which would bring me up to 150 Q-points and Silver status (equivalent to QF Gold and oneworld Sapphire).

At the moment, the trip is tied to my QF FF number (0 points, new account). Could I instead transfer the booking to my Qatar account and earn miles/status credits on Qatar instead?

I'd hate to waste the 80 Q-points I got in January (as a student, PER-JFK).

Thanks for your advice.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The details of how QR freq flyer program will work with OneWorld airlines has not been published, so comments below is opinion only. Given QR fly from Perth I assume the PER-DXB-LHR ticket was purchased on cost. Low fare means low or nil earning with some freq flyer programes.

Emirates is not a OneWorld Airline or a OW afflilate. At times the IT does not work as written with new members of an alliance or new airline partners

Assuming its an eligible fare
Based on other airlines in OW you are unlikely to get QR Q-points (status) on a flight that is QF marketed (flight number) and EK operated (aircraft)

That is assuming QR join before your flights. Nothing on the Oneworld web site about the offical joining date. Swapping freq flyer numbers in a reservation is very hit & miss. Does not always stick, even the airline person tells you they have done it.

Thanks. Only my first PER-DXB flight is operated by Emirates (with the return I'm stopping in Melbourne a few days LHR-DXB-MEL-PER) so they're all on Qantas. Hope things work out :)

I believe all tickets on Qatar are eligible for status points. The points values I have quoted (80, 70) are correct with the Discount Economy tier.

Based on other airlines in OW, would the status credit ratio be 1:1, or dependent on the individual programs?

In QR discount economy, 20 Q-Points is PER-DOH whereas on QF, 20 status credits would be PER-MEL.

Anyway, excluding my PER-DXB leg on Emirates, I believe the DXB-LHR and LHR-DXB-MEL legs are worth 25 and 60 SC each, and my MEL-PER is a J-ASA worth 80 SC.

That's a total of 165 SC and if it was converted 1:1 to 165 Q-Points, I would be over the moon!

Dont assume anything until its published - ie when MH came in and earn rates.

If you made the equivalent of QF SG in two Y flights then perhaps QRs program is a goer ??
Need to have a closer look.

Ok so its looks pretty good.

150 points required for QR's SG equiv and 300 points required for QR's WP equiv, and then consider that you get 70 points for a flight MEL-LHR return in discount Y and that looks quite attractive.

In comparison you would need to fly MEL-LHR five times (140 SCs) to make QF SG lol so either QR is a winner or QF is a joke or maybe both lol.

Status earning on OW airlines is not equal (or able to converted). Is very programe, route & ticket fare bucket dependant

Assume nothing

Can anyone please provide some examples of existing status-earning-across-OW-airlines relationships and how they work, just out of interest?

Hi all,

Does anyone know when / where the earning tables for QFF on Qatar Airlines flights will be published?

thanks,
tofe.
