Was just doing a search for some flights in June from OOL-SYD-OOL and I noticed one of the flights is operated by Qantaslink on a 717 (with J seats), when did this happen?? Or I have missed something?

I am on this time flight fairly regularly as QF 864 and all my forward bookings are still showing as the same flight no. Might just be an aberration. I hope it's not something more sinister. I am not aware of any move to start using QFlink into OOL.

It might be just a weekend thing as I notice from your pic shows Sat 20 Jun. There are all whY 717 flights BNE/CNS on Saturday plus BNE/ASP Sat & Sun & I did read on AFF somewhere someone saw a SYD/ADL 717 flight also although I don't know if that was all whY or a J/Y cabin.

I think you're right, after checking on EF it would seem that from sat 25th Apr qantaslink 717 takes over last qf flight of the day on Saturdays.
Wonder if this is demand driven or dipping their toe in the water for total move to qantaslink?

Before QF mainline returned to OOL it was considered more likely that QFLink would be used on that route, perhaps with the mining slowdown we may see that eventuate.

Would be demand driven. Saturday night is quiet for travel and the 717s would be resting from cbr weekday sectors

QF1750 departs at 1620 Saturdays in lieu of QF786 which departs 1900 daily except Sat.

The BNE/ASP non-stops on Sat & Sun are extra flights & don't replace any QF mainline flights as they don't fly BNE/ASP. Pax flying on weekdays have to go via CNS or SYD.

Wasn't ADL-SYD running the Q400 at some stage?

QLink have a Q400 flight QF2567 BNE/CBR around noon Saturdays only.

I would love to see other QFLink destinations from OOL but doubt it'll happen.

I wouldn't say the 717 was a bad move to include on the route if loads were light, so long as it's not the all-Y configuration as I think Qantas should be focusing on premium travellers.

Reduced Y seats would also certainly improve op-up chances :p

Yes, some days, there is a 717 from ADL to SYD with provider being QantasLink.
I was in J, up ahead, 1C, so the noise from the engines in my case for that flight wasn't that bad.
Though there was a comment, try nearer the back on the 717, which I will do one day.
Compared to other J classes on QF, I couldn't complain, being a 717 vs being a 737, bit of waffle, of course, J on a 767 is still the better, but they don't do it on QFlink (ever)/or on QF anymore.

I had forgotten i had a booking on QF864 on a Saturday afternoon booked for may. I booked last week but its changed to a 717 this week. Im pretty happy... its a nice change to the standard 737 ride

Only ever have flown qantaslink 2 times asp-ayq-asp and the service was pretty ordinary was I just unlucky or is this how qflink is normally?

Looks like they use the CBR 717's (VH-YQS, YQT, YQW etc) to do SYD/OOL & SYD/ADL then the all whY 717's (VH-NX*) that fly BNE to GLT, ROK & MKY for the ah-hoc BNE/CNS & BNE/ASP flights which wouldn't have much demand for J.

And a direct one to Adelaide - QF2091 - on Saturdays as well. There is also a CBR - MEL-CBR one on Saturdays. Oh how the national capital is looked after with Dash 8s. Pity I don't like them much though do tolerate CBR-SYD leg. Anything longer, not for this little black duck.

I remember coming back from BNE to CBR on a Dash (and it would have been a weekday I'm sure so it would have been the first and only time this flight was booked). Anyway, a young boy boarded for his first flight obviously very excited and I overhead him ask his mother where the TVs were, poor lamb! Hope he got one on the return leg.
