QantasLink to Commence New Services Between Mt Isa and Townsville

QantasLink announced today it would commence services between Townsville and Mt Isa from March 2009, subject to regulatory approvals.
This follows recent Intra WA mining routes + ADL KGI announcements
in the last few days..makes it clear they will protect their key mining contracts...wonder if the new 'ex Rio Tinto' chairman had his finger in the decision pie

There'll be plenty of work to go around if Legend Internationals phosphate project takes off as reported in this mornings Townsville Bulletin.
They'll be needing to renovate the Townsville Terminal again soon if things keep getting busier. The QP is as bad as the one in BNE most of the time.

Qantas could tell it was coming, and I am sure Macair owe a fair bit of money to a few companies.

REGIONAL carrier MacAir was this morning placed in receivership by its bankers Suncorp Metway, leaving passengers stranded around the state.

Suncorp is owed about $10 million with unsecured creditors such as BP and Shell owed an estimated $4 million.

Jonathan McLeod of McLeod Partners was appointed voluntary administrator on Thursday night by MacAir owner Terry Byrt and Justin Walsh of Ernst & Young was appointed receiver by the bank this morning.
