Qantas TravelPass discussion

Meanwhile my friend can't find her Travel Pass login and is trying to get through to the call centre...
So long as you have the number and Exp (12/22?), you can use one without the login. That’s really just to check the balance.

Thanks but I think she can't even find the number and it was from a SIN flight cancellation in 2020...

be good to hear how she goes.

i have a TP that never came with an email. Is the number the booking ref no? That and the value is all I have. I can guess the expiry is 31122023, given that’s what all the others are.

No, unfortunately the number is like a credit card number (which is basically what the UATPs are - stored value cards).

Perhaps QF has the number if you can find the original PNR?

My email has the title “Your Qantas TravelPass for booking reference xx_xx_”.

The email has the card number, original value, expiry and password. There was a link to check the balance (which I book marked).

The number for the travel pass is like a credit card number and the expiry is also like a credit card expiry. Mine was actually expiry 12/22 but i had DSC's on mine. Managed to use it all on a J flight to Santiago and back with a leg to Buenos aires. Should net me 780SC's but i'm sure i'll be on the phone to get those double SC's.

Edit: just realised i probably stuffed up here. DSC's only on QF metal.... Given its LATAM from Sydney i prob will get 20 DSC's for the CBR-SYD legs. doh. Anyway i at least used the credit and got a good price for J to South America.

I think there is often confusion between TP's and flight credits. The flight credits having the older style Amadeus 6 digit PNR reference, usually the same as the original booking (since it IS the original PNR mangled to force a credit with QF's tools hence all of the limits and stupidity). The TP, as said above, has a number beginning with 1081... (the 081 being the QF IATA number) and yes is basically like a CC.

Given QF has at least members details associated with TP's issued as credit (hence why I keep getting the spam emails about usage :) ) they do or should have a record of TP's linked to members accounts. In theory they shoul be able to show these on the account booking page like flight credits (sometimes) do... I mean I don't see why they can't do that, but that's a bit of programming for the WEK's to do.

Anyway QF should be able to locate them I should think. It's just the matter of getting through to someone who can actually do it...

Actually, my original “flight credit” that was converted to a TP still sits in my account (but obviously can’t be used). It appears on my dashboard. That probably is another source of confusion but at least it has the linked booking ref!

Well.. that is frustrating and weird (I've not had one converted myself so have not seen this).
one would presume/hope when the TP is used that should clear that out but how odd.

More general comment about keeping track of TP's(and credits)... I keep my own record whenever I receive one (or make a new booking with a credit or TP) so I keep track of how much, when expires, what trip it is linked to (or was cancelled from) etc. May seem a bit cough but I have a record separate to QF and track what I have to use as well as things I might be waiting on things like DSC from once booked and flown, so I can refer back. I only remove them when flights are flown and all expected items are received.

Yeah, I or Mrs Pineapple got emails for all but the missing one, and have kept them. In one case Mrs has the credit, but I got the email with the card number and password (!!). Epic security fail.

While the original booking was your wife’s name, was the original booking sent to your email?

Thanks for this info. Mrs_G just logged on to book a flight to Sydney and found her flight credit was now a Pass. No email about the pass, so calling up and ready for the loooong wait to Qantas.

A flight credit from mid 2021 was converted to a Qantas Travel Pass. My husband and I are both frequent flyers and still have the original booking reference but neither of us received an email about the travel pass number or expiry date.
After searching the Qantas site I could not find any way to request the information, or even ask for a 'resend' of details. I decided to bravely persist with a call. As a teacher I thought I could wait out the 1.5 to 2 hour wait by marking student work from a test. After 2 hours, marking finished I then walked with the phone to get my steps up, after 3 hours I started some sudokus. Ten minutes before the 4 hour mark the phone clicked and I could hear call centre voices in the background but no matter how loudly I said hello in a positive, polite, encouraging voice no one spoke to me. Half a minute later the phone cut to the automated exit survey on how satisfied I was with the service. Any idea how I can get the missing information before that travel pass expires (disappears down the rabbit hole)?

I'm not sure if this helps, but if you're been searching your email it may be worth noting that on the TravelPass email with the details, it never once calls it a "Travel Pass", but instead always "TravelPass" (one word, no space), even though the email telling you that you just requested the TravelPass calls it a "Travel Pass". Depending on how smart your email search is, you might find it by searching "TravelPass" instead of "Travel Pass".

Hi @DebVLee8, welcome to AFF!

If you never received the email with the Travel Pass number and expiry date, then there is no other way around this than to call Qantas.

Try using the numbers at the top of this thread here: Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times
Thanks, used the number, I only waited 1 hour twenty and got to speak to someone, pass details have been resent and I have been able to use the pass.
