Not sure if this is related to the issue above, but since about mid-Feb 2014 I have been finding the 'Flexible dates' fare search on QF very frustrating.
So I follow the bouncing ball, enter from/to, dates, pax and click the "Flexible Dates" checkbox and voila, a grid of dates and prices. Helpfully there is a red sash showing the inbound/outbound dates with the lowest prices (and a chair when award seats are available).
After highlighting the date (box) with the date/price I am seeking, click continue to the next page. But on the "select flights" screen there is no flight combo for the amount shown on the "select dates" page ? Also, often the "award seat" shown available on the dates page disappears on the select flights page.
This is for a flight months away, EF has loads of availability across lots of classes. I've searched through the whole period covered by the fare pricing dates (from the "planning" and "specials" pages) but the issue remains - the advertised fare is simply not available once you click through the dates page.
I could call but I would prefer to search options online, and avoid the outrageous fees that are charged for making QF staff talk to their customers when I'm trying to hand over $,000's to them !
Edit: Ok, so I kept testing this ... two computers, one on the ADSL the other using 3G (different IP addresses), one using Chrome the other Internet Explorer. Both on Qantas.com prepared with the same search. One logged-in to my QF profile, the other not. Surprised me when the dates grid was different (substantially) - clicking through to the select flights page for the same dates on both computers I also get different flight options, prices, etc. But the really interesting thing was that even selecting the exact same flights on both browsers gives a different overall price (ps. no award seats selected).
Cleared the cache and got the same result again. Now that is interesting.
