Qantas Status Matching

Hi Folks,

I am a couple of flights away from Platinum on VA but I have quite a bit of travel coming up that will be better served fly Qantas. Additionally, the lounges are getting crowded with all the Qantas people that took up the VA match offer.

Has anyone had any luck getting Qantas to status match with VA? How would I go about achieving this?

I've never seen QF offer status matches. I think you'd have virtually zero chance

Status matches/comps are only given out generally through Corporate relationships. I got comped to WP when I was AA EXP because my boss' boss had threatened to take all of our business away from QF (for other reasons rather than to get me WP status).

I have not heard of another status match.

I don't think status matching happens at Qantas and I sincerely hope it never happens.

Should have rephrased that statement.

I know status matching happens for big corporate and maybe not so big corporate accounts but I hope that it is not made easily available to all and sundry.

I could not even get upgraded to WP status when I was only 15SC's away from WP.

I had app another 15 to 20 flights booked before the end of my current year.

If you are with a large to medium sized company and doing the flying for work. Probably be best to make the approach through your Qantas Account Manager. Realistically that is likely the only way you will get it.

Have you thought outside of the box and considered status matching with another OneWorld airline?

I think LANPass are status matching at the moment. Worth a shot?
