Hey guys, this is my first post. I am going to Bangkok with British Airways Business Class or Club World, i am trying to build up to get Platinum Status this year with Qantas. Do you know how many status credits i will get. I assume its close to 200 status credits but who knows with these guys.

Welcome Jason.

I believe the correct SC's for each leg is 120 (assuming Sydney-Bangkok), so 240 in total.

As for lounges, you will have access to the Qantas Business Lounge (Qantas Club) at both locations. If you were already Platinum, then you would have access to the First lounges in both locations.

Hope that helps.

I don’t understand, they’re a OneWorld member airline, and while the naming isn’t very obvious, you should know it’s a business class fare, so it’d be the same as a Qantas business class fare.

Not always ... If you look at (the extremely bad) earning table here:
Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions (under BA) you may get the wrong idea.

And, earning between partners does vary, so it's a legitimate question.

How would you get the wrong idea? The table refers only to points earning. It clearly states that SCs are earned on all eligible fares.

I have never had a J seat credit as anything other than J SCs. Are there any partners that credit SCs at other than Disc Y, Y, Y+ J and F based on the cabin booked?

simongr, the table is incorrect because it is mis-aligned. This could cause people who are using booking class to decipher the incorrect type of fare.

Rewind a few years when you didn't know all about the scheme (Perhaps we should check out your first posts here!). Did you realise straight away that flying BA earnt the same SC as flying QF?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I agree that the QF SCs earning table is not always clear cut.

I think a perfect example is JAL domestic earning.

It is also difficult to determine sometimes where the airline does not make the exact fare code clear at the time of booking.

ie AA exclude many fares classes, yet just state "discount economy" when booking through their website. By the time you get a confirmation email showing the fare class it's all too late.

OW need to make the fare classes and eligibility more transparent in my opinion

In my opinion it is not a Oneworld issue but rather an individual airline issue.

From memory AY used to be clear on booking class and CX shows you the booking class(es) after selecting the flights which is very handy if wanting to credit to QFF.
