Seems like Qantas have put out a new version of their Safety Video for 2017.

Follows along the same lines of the previous one, just with new places and different people.

Seems a bit long (1m longer), maybe too relaxed and the voices aren't all that authorative / almost disinterested? Not quite sure if that's a good or a bad thing.. feels a bit like people will lose interest though compared to the old one. Still, it's really clever and builds on the theme last year of using related things (the yoga ball brace position was my favorite :)

These new style Qantas ones are my favorite safety video, though Emirates gets an honorable mention for being quite entertaining with their flying phones and the lady wafting the smoke away (that facial expression).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I noticed that they didn't mention the use of the sash belt in the seat belt section.
Otherwise an interesting video

This demo is a "media" version, just like the last one that was released online. You'll notice that the seatbelt isn't the type found on the A380.

The actual demo used will be shorter (says about 3 minutes in the press release).

From memory they have to make around 50 safety demos for all the various languages and aircraft.

Yes it seems way too long but otherwise is excellent.

The one in the first post does mention sash belt (when demonstrating sitting upright and chin down).

I assume the shorted "real" version wont name all the places, or will do so in smaller font whilst commentary ongoing (rather than as an intro to each section).

I like it - a good time for a change, but in keeping with previous theme. Agree this one seems more sedate. No bad thing. But I guess final package(s) and music edits on aircraft may make it a bit more lively.

But I will miss the "just call a crew member" girl's smile.

Best safety vids I have seen are the Air NZ ones.

Meh, it's a safety video. It tells you what you need to know, but I don't think it's overly special. However at least it's better than "Captain, Captain"

Agreed 100%, especially their LOTR / Hobbit ones.

With Peter Jackson cameos!

I do like the QF ones too. But it is odd when there's no screen and at the start you hear the bloke say "Thanks Darl". Unless you've seen it and know he's handing a sheep to the (I presume) missus, it's rather strange.

ik this has been said but too long

As was the first one when first posted by the old Red Roo - but the actual clips onboard are much shorter. They are also designed to have all the crew actions up-front (seatbelt, life jacket, exits etc) and the extra info at the back which allows the crew to start preparing for take-off rather than waiting in the safety demo positions.

I agree re the old video ,if you cant see the TV, the sheep/Thanks Darl bit makes no sense, as does the motorbike roaring away later on.

Got the old video on 26 Jan, new video onboard today.

I've always wondered, if................"oxygen will flow without the bag inflating". Why have a bag that doesn't inflate that will only worry people when it doesn't?

Just asking?

JB

The bags are there to store a small amount of oxygen but most people would be panicking and breathing fast so it wouldn't have a chance to fill up, They say it so you don't think its not working

Because that might take additional pressure (or something) to get it to inflate or inflating could be dangerous?

I like both videos, but prefer the old one a tiny bit more. Because it is more warm than the new one

Funniest part is where the woman searches for an emergency exit from a wedding.
