Qantas recently announced some kind of reciprocal relationship with KLM/Air France (2020)

Under the arrangement can get FF points, and QF FF gold and platinum are supposed to get Sky Priority privileges (excluding lounge access that is). The problem is no-one seems to have told the KLM staff about it. They just look at you blankly or point out the QF is OneWorld and KLM is SkyTeam so status isn't recognised. Has anyone else encountered this?

I flew KLM from Lyon to Amsterdam on 8 January. The check in staff at Lyon knew of the arrangement and happily added my Qantas FF to the booking. My QFF number and WP status showed on the boarding pass as well as a prominent Sky Priority tag.

Now just chasing up the points with Qantas.

I've been trying to find out the 'additional baggage allowance' for QF FFers but KLM doesn't seem to know :( (Specifically I'd like to know if intra-europe fares, where you normally have to pay €25-30 per bag, come with a free bag).

Which airport where you flying from (and were refused reciprocal status benefits) - was it AMS or an out-station?

This page might be useful if AF/KLM ground staff don’t know. It’s specifically for FB members but ought to be enough.

If you’re not chasing status (eg LTG) but still like to accrue points, AF/KLM routinely have good J fares to Europe (mid $5k - comparable or often cheaper than AY). Something to consider.

Thanks but I live in NL

Not sure I follow, but if that’s a comment on a .au website - I hadn’t noticed it defaulted to that but you should be able to find exactly the same info on the Dutch KLM FlyingBlue website.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have an AF booking and when I try to enter my Qantas FF number, Qantas doesn’t come up on the pulldown menu as a recognised affiliate FF program. Hopefully they’ll be able to enter it for me at the airport.

Are you able to pull up the reservation through QF MMB (or app) and add FF details there?

Hadn't thought of that as I'd booked directly through AF. I can bring up the booking on the app but it won't let me enter my FF number. The problem appears to be that I made the booking before the alliance was announced, even though I'm not actually flying until April.

Try the website. More functionality. It won’t hang around in your trips but may appear in the app if you are able to get your FF details in.

Thanks again for your reply, but the website won't let me access the booking at all -- I keep getting an "It looks like something went wrong here" error message.
