Qantas Premier Titanium card

I find it's hard to see any value compared to the American Express Platinum Card. The bonus points offer for joining should be 400 to 500k points considering the fact that $75 to $200 annual fee cards come with 100k points.

I took out this card primarily for the 150k sign up bonus points.

Given the current DSC offer I think it may be more useful than than I anticipated:

- 10% off bookings made on the card (up to 2 per year)
- 20% status credit bonus (not sure these will get doubled bit who knows)
- Automatic 6 months interest free on my first qantas purchase
- I get to use one of my F Lounge passes if I go to NZ.

Not 100% sure if the 20% status credit bonus will apply to the double status credit portion, but I tend to think it will.

A few things. This card doesn't contribute to LTSC, loyalty bonus, or Platinum 1 status, or Platinum Bonus Reward. You can use it to earn or retain platinum, just not platinum 1.

Also, the 10% discount doesn't apply to the whole sticker price. To quote the terms "The Discounted Fare Benefit only applies to the base fare and does not apply to any carrier charges, taxes and other fees that may be included in the total fare price. The base fare is the initial price of the flight amount, and does not include any additional costs such as taxes, fees and other charges." For a return business class flight to NZ, it might only knock off $66 per person. Although, this starts to make sensewhen you're buying something like a return business class flight to London, where it might knock off $500-$600 per person. But then you can only get that benefit twice a year. Also, you'll probably hit your monthly points cap when you do that, as there's a cap on points after $12.5K spend.

So, the card is severely limited. Despite the limitations, there may be a very niche use case if you don't yet have status with QANTAS, or purchase expensive business/first class flights such as long haul or last minute.

I was happy to pay the $1200 as a one off to get 150k points. I know there are better value for money but I'm churning through and it made sense.

It just saved me a couple of hundred (not particularly significant) but means my status runs to et me from NB to WP will cost $1.94 per SC withour factoring in a potential extra 20%. I wouldn't buy it for this but given I have it, it's a nice little bonus.

Annual fee of $1200 seems a touch high when the card doesn't come with direct hotel status.

Obviously, not an issue if you already have this !

Yeah, my opinion is this card would be worth it if it came with QC membership, some flight credit, or something. Otherwise at $1200 it's benefits really don't make sense with the singular exception of if you're booking 1 or 2 revenue First Class trips a year, where you can make use of the discount.

It's like the only metal credit card on the Australian market to my knowledge though (apart from the Amex Platinum and Maaaybe the Citi Prestige?)

Applied and approved for the QF Premier Ti card, this week.

Have enough self-funded J travel planned this year and the next to cover the fees through the base fare discounts alone (will obviously pick out the highest fares x 2 pax to claim this on), and the 20% bonus SCs are very welcome given an almost full reduction in work related travel, for the next 12 months at least.

Unlikely to need or get benefit from any of the other features; actually, maybe the travel insurance. Plus a bonus 150K SUB is nice enough too!

Cheers,
Matt.

Been using the card for a month now. First cycle cut came at the weekend, and the monthly points for spend, plus the 150K SUB were already in my QFF account before notice of the statement. So far, so good, but yet to test any of the real features, like booking the discounted travel with the concierge, or realising 20% bonus SCs on flights paid with the card

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Been using this card for a few months and last week I finally used the Titanium Concierge help line hoping they can help me save some time hunting for an off-the-rack suit in a certain size quickly within Sydney CBD (forgot to bring my formal clothing). I would've thought they could've contacted the typical stores such as MJBale/Suitsupply for me and emailed me a list.

Instead it took me 10 minutes to explain the simple request to them (they are either from an offshore call center Phillipines or India, so they're not really in the best position to give city locale advice).
When I eventually received their email, it included MTM suppliers and retailers in Parramata. This was not really fitting my requirements. I don't know what value-add this service can provide given all they're doing is googling for you rather than real assistant/recommendation work. It's tiers below AMEX service.

It took them long enough, but Google Pay finally works for this and the other Qantas Premier cards.
Is that because they're now issued by Nab instead of Citi? Seems Citi had been planning to exit this business for a while and wasn't investing in new features (not that Google Pay is all that new...)

Probably. It's working now too on cards in the Citi Rewards family (Linked Diners Club excluded).

Absolutely cannot justify this card for $1200 a year. Benefits are very poor. I have the Qantas Money Platinum Card which I think is the best fit and does represent good value for money. HOWEVER! I hate that it takes sometimes 2 days to Bpay onto it…give me a proper credit card issued by one of the big four anyday where you can transfer cash directly. The App is also very unreliable and often unable to show balances etc.

Ummm, but NAB is big four ...

National Australia Bank Limited (ABN 12 004 044 937, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 230686) ("NAB") is the Credit Provider and Issuer of Qantas Premier credit cards on behalf of Qantas Airways Limited ABN 16 009 661 901.

Yep they have only just bought Qantas Money so no changes have been made still seems to be on the Citi platform which is painful. I do hope they change platform sometime soon.

To be pedantic, Nab bought the Citi assets in Australia which includes the Qantas Premier white-label credit cards. But Qantas Money as an overall brand name includes different products from several issuers. For example, Qantas Money home loans are through Bendigo Bank and this hasn't changed with the card change from Citi to Nab.

As discussed above the Premier cards now do support Google Pay so some improvements have been made.

Updating here after recently claiming one of the Ti card benefits successfully. The card offers a 10% discount off the base fare of [eligible] Qantas flights for up to 2 travellers, twice a year. To claim this, you contact the Qantas Money concierge to make the booking, and they complete the request with QF, including getting the discount processed before ticketing. This - however - only works if you have no more than 2 pax on the booking(s), and I needed to make 2 bookings that both had 3 pax on them.

I was unsure as to whether this would work out, and was prepared to split our bookings if needed to get the discounts I wanted, however they offered an undocumented alternative in which I just needed to make my booking via the Qantas website, take a screen shot of the Flight Amount breakdown ahead of payment and send that to them for making a claim. This allowed me to keep the bookings together, and have full control over the booking process, as well. I had 2 INT J bookings, 1 of which was all QF, and also a booking which was a blend of QF and MH. The concierge forwarded my claims across to 'Qantas management' for calculation and approval, and then the 10% base fare discounts were reimbursed to my card.

The process was a little clunky, and time taken from end-to-end was 18 days to complete. Communications were a little absent for my liking, but it did work out for my requirement, and so no real complaints, in the end. The J discounts more than cover my 1st annual & additional cardholder fees.

I'll need to wait until July/August to see how the SCs post, which is interesting as my wife & I are both entitled to 20% bonus SCs on flights booked directly with QF using the card... plus this was booked during the March DSC offer. The terms say that the bonus can't be stacked, but as it's 20% on the base SCs, I'm hopeful of ending up with at least 120% bonus SCs for the DSC flights.

I also put a solo classic reward (U class) booking in for later in the year that I'm interested in whether the DSC and 20% bonus will apply to... more on the SCs when they happen.

One other thing I'll confirm is that the 2 x F lounge passes were added pretty soon after the card was approved, but as myself and the additional cardholder are the only ones who can use them, and I have QFF WP already, it's unlikely we'll get use of them. A real shame they can't be transferred to another's booking.

Cheers,
Matt.
