Qantas Premier Credit Card

Got my first return today of approx 50k bonus points for my 5x for March which is only about 6k short of what I was expecting. Pretty close but still put the call in to query, they are going to investigate and get back to me in the next couple of days. Seems like the call centre knew all about the bonus offerings contrary to the experience of some of the earlier posters on this forum which is good.

Expecting a similar return for April and a reduced offering for May (3x) which I didn't chase so hard

Still with approx 125k bonus points expected plus the 70k sign on have made this a pretty lucrative card especially with the reduced first year annual fee. With a one for one point earn I might have considered keeping however feel that opportunity exists to close and then reapply a few months down the track for yet another sign on bonus

Oops! Spoke too soon! Mrs NoName received another email this morning along the same lines asking for further documents (doesn’t specify which docs). Needless to say she is getting a little agitated with their BS so suspect someone is going to cop it when she calls later this morning.

Still dragging on nearly 3 weeks after application. They wanted to call her at work to confirm employment despite having already received payslips which proved it.

Fair to say Mrs NoName is ropable at this point. She doesn’t have the same patience for this as me. Going to send in a scathing complaint once it’s finally approved (if it ever is).

About 2 weeks since my application.
I called after making the app and they confirmed they have the payslip and asked some other questions. She said that should be all. Haven’t heard anything since.
I wonder if Qantas knows what a cough credit card partner they have.

I'm going to buck the trend a little here and say this was almost (slightly behind Amex) the most painless exercise I have ever been through for a card.

I had braced for the hell I had read about Citi. I applied on a Thursday and was called the following Tuesday.

They confirmed all of my financial details and then told me I'd hear back within 24-48 hours. A few hours later I had an approval text. Card was in my hands that Thursday.

I think I had better buy a lotto ticket. The only thing that I had go wrong so to speak (and this seems to happen almost across the board to me) was daily reminders to log in and upload documents via SMS and email. However when I clicked the link it advised all documents were received, so I just ignored them.

Agree. Buy that ticket. There aren't many others who can tell that story. Citi …?

Approved, took 2 weeks.
All information needed was supplied on day 1. I didn’t run into any issues but it was just very slow. Now to wait for the card to arrive.

Mrs NoName received yet another email asking to upload documents this morning. Needless to say she was not impressed. Called up at lunch as told it was a system error and to ignore any further emails/texts of this nature. Just another part of their process that is a total shambles.

Anyway finally had approval come through this afternoon. Will be cancelling as soon as the 6th lot of 20k pts hits her account.

This also happened to me when I applied for the St George Amplify, and probably the Westpac card as well. It's that common that I don't really consider it an issue anymore, I'm not sure anyone has a decent workflow outside of Amex and maybe ANZ, in my experience. I don't think customer application experience is particularly important to the banks. Unlike both WBC and STG however, I didn't get asked for things that were outright difficult to provide (such as statements not older than 30 days when my bank issues them every 90 days, etc).

I don't think customer application experience is particularly important to the banks.
Unlike most people on this forum most customers signup once and then stay, and signup experiences are soon forgotten in relation to ongoing transactional banking. So, yes not that important to most customers and hence doesnt get much traction with the banks (you should try closing an account and asking them to redirect all your Direct Debits).

For me the inconvenience is the price of admission to this club. I've had more than one experience with CC providers where because I've been busy I've not got around to providing doco that quickly and/or ignored these followup emails, lo and behold my card arrived anyway. So I suggest not stressing over this behaviour too much and if it does stress you to much find another game.

Mrs NoName just received one of those “how did we do” survey emails. Do they really need to be told? :D

What I don't get is how citibank hasn't improved this. I think this is about the fourth or fifth citibank product I've enrolled for over the last 10 years and it's as bad as it was on day one. I applied over a week ago and haven't heard nada.

Does anyone know if this is likely a rejection?

Yes, this is a rejection.
Thanks. I took it that it probably was, just the term decisioned was confusing. Not quite sure why it would have been rejected. Comfortably met the requirements and no cc applications for over a year. Recently cancelled a virgin money card (Citi) so maybe that was the issue. Oh well; wait 6 months or so and apply for a non Citi card I suppose.
