Qantas TravelPass discussion

What's the expiry date for the pass? I have some credits with a current expiry of Feb 2022 which I got an email about today saying I'll get a pass, just wondering if they extend out to Dec 2023 in line with QF's flight credit policies?
Yes, it ought be extended....

So this pass like Virgin's Travelbank, which is like a cash account. Can be used on anything from the virgin/velocity website.

Although some have travelbank with future flight credit which can only be used on certain fares, limited seats on each flight.

Hi,
I have had two flight credits converted to travel passes automatically. They are on my FF account under bookings and were emailed to me. I have never received any correspondence from QANTAS before this. Its possible I wasn't the original booker as my partner may have been. Can I use these travel passes? When I go to check balance I cant work out how to login to travel pass etc. Any help appreciated.Do I just use them as a form of payment when booking a trip?

Are you an admin of a Qantas Business Rewards account that the flights may have been linked to via ABN? QF sent this out a few days ago:

Hi 33kft,
To provide our customers with more flexibility, we'll be transferring eligible flight credits to Qantas Passes. The Qantas Pass provides greater flexibility and more ways to use stored value with Qantas to pay for flights, additional baggage, seat selections and more.

There are one or more Qantas Flight Credits associated with your business that will be transferred and which you can view in your Qantas Business Rewards account.

We've included key information on Qantas Pass as it relates to your business, and you can learn more in our Qantas Pass Frequently Asked Questions guide.

There should be a "redeem" button if the flight credit is listed among your bookings which, if you click it, should show you the balance. Edit: Sorry that is the drill for flight credits. For travel passes converted to "Qantas Passes" they should have sent you an email with a "card no" and password (!!!!!) which you use to log in at this interface. Our experience is that the emails don't always appear to get sent.

How is the UK thing going to work for people having to transit in the eastern states from Adelaide then say through Doha? So flight length of 30 hours but have to allow 24 hours to get result before departing first flight? No time in Doha or eastern states to get rapid one!
Some things might have become mission impossible now :( . I had to organise my booking to ensure I had the test and result within the time window. If you need to rebook hopefully the airline will accommodate you.

Edit: Just looked at what I have on these "Qantas passes" and it looks like a shambles. Mrs Pineapple has three of these which she doesn't recall asking for, in the case of the first she was emailed the number and password, for the second I was emailed the number and password, and for the third (the one worth all the money) nothing was sent to either of us. Possibly Jack Africa from Yackandandah got the email for that one. I have tw flight credits which weren't converted to travel passes.

Strikes me as an epic security fail to be issuing emails with a "card number" and a password on them, then asking you to log into an interface with these details without even logging into your frequent flyer account.

Cheers skip

I think there is an out given that UK have said that you can still board and they will assess whether you've tried to get tested at all, or of the window is out by a few hours. DIL is a Brit as is grandson and a GP registered there and here. Likely she will find a way. Hopefully doesn't leave hubby (son) at immigration. 🤔😀

It took 6 days for the booking I made using the Travel Pass to reflect on the activity statement, even though the portal has already been displaying the updated balance...

This morning I thought I would go online and check a booking I made in 2019, just to keep Qantas honest, surprise, surprise the booking had vanished, so onto the phone I go.

A new enhancement that has been made is the Qantas Pass, to which I only found out about an hour ago. To be fair I am guilty as charged for not logging on to my account sooner, as I am suffering from travel withdrawals and hope you fellow non travellers will be fair in dishing out my punishment.

Here is a thought though, what if there was a permanent sub heading for the QFF forum titled “Qantas Enhancements”?
Thanks

To be fair Qantas Travel Passes are not new, they were launched in October 2020 as an option instead of flight credit.

They are a genuine enhancement not an "enhancement aka downgrade as is usual AFF terminology". Travel passes can be used across multiple bookings come with Point and or SC bonus and had longer validity.

There were threads on here in 2020 about AFFrs proactively calling up to have their flight credits converted to Travel Pass.

Then Qantas recently sent out an email advising that they were going to convert remaining credits to travel pass, maybe check your spam, as the travel pass details would have been emailed to the contact address on the account.

You should have also been contacted when the flights in the original booking were cancelled, if a old school flight credit was given it would have expired (they were only good for 12 months from date of the departing flight) so the flight credits which are good to Dec 22 is actually to your advantage.

Unfortunately apart form this enhancement, they have done naught to fix the many website issues.

Hopefully you found your Qantas Pass details - I think Qantas were sending heaps of emails to sweep much of the flight credits into Qantas Pass around October/November 2021.

Of course this action was to their benefit - a Qantas Pass is a mode of payment, a flight credit is technically not (as I learnt from a discussion in another AFF thread) - so a Qantas-initiated cancellation will result in a refund to Qantas Pass (where Qantas Pass was used as payment) or to the original payment method (where a flight credit was used as payment).

Yes I now have a Qantas travel pass.

Can this pass be accessed from my frequent flyer account, or is it totally seperate with more coughe to remember?

As in a previous thread I admitted my negligence in not getting the pass, no problems.

Having entered my account number which roughly equated to the population of China and the password I was right to go.

My expectation was that I could enter the pass and cancel my money and get my money back.

How wrong was I

Qantas 1 me zero.

Another enhancement we just had to have.
