Yes I know it is a 3rd world isssue and not a publicised benifit of Platinum
but,

During my flight on QF2 yesterday I asked if it was possible to get a pair of the better headphones as had been the case in all of the QFI Y flights that I had taken over the years I was however advised that QF new policy is that NONE of the Premium Headphones are to be offered to Y passengers as they NEVER leave them behind and take them.

Well I was not impressed with the accusation that I am more than likely to be a thief and steal the headsets.

Another QF enhancement?

I will also add that on the Legs to and From DXB to LHR no meet and greet from either the CSS or CSM and it seemed that the staff just didnt care atall perhaps it is the staff and NOT QF.

has anyone else experienced this of late?

END of Whinge :D

How many have you got in the cupboard at home. If you tell me you have none,
A-I don't believe you
B-How many pairs do you want??
Mrs Dmac6345 hates the things sitting up in the cupboard at home !! ;)

This is quite disappointing if true... I've never taken QF headphones from the aircraft, as they have (almost) always been offered to me in Y!

I'm hoping that this was just a grumpy FA (or an 'unhappy' CSM)... because if they were that concerned, they crew could always come around and collect the few that they'd given out when the aircraft was being prepared for landing.

This must have been very recent - I had them in Y at the very end of April on QF2 LHR-DXB.

A) I have NONE sitting at home - Always leave then behind
B) Only after one when onboards and flying Y

Mrs Ansett hates me taking things from the plane other than PJs and the amenity packs :D

I was just very surprised at the comments and the apparent withdrawl of this non stated benifit

They aren't even quality headphones....

Hence why I dont Knick them :D but they are better than the usual Y ones and yes I could buy a better pait but having lost 2 pairs in recent years Im Happy to put up with the less coughpy ones :D

As I just posted on a VA thread.

My suggestion is to lash out and buy the $99 NC headset available through the AFF store. Having just bought some I have to say they are great value for money.

May have to look at this BUT do they come with loss protection insurance :D LOL

The $65 Creative Technology ones I purchased on a QF T-T duty free about 10 years ago did the job fine for me ...

The CSM brought down 2 headsets for myself and another Platinum sitting in window seat on a recent SIN-BNE flight.

I had some issues with headsets and crackling noise on domestic flight yesterday and FA brought back a headset from business but she told me not tell anyone where i got them! ;)

Whilst very disappointing for you, I would be taking this info with a huge pinch of salt.
I cannot see that a hitherto unpublished but widespread benefit for status passengers in whY would merit QF devising a policy for its removal.
The suggestion that it was due to status passengers removing the low quality NC headphones whilst traveling in whY sounds ludicrous.
Surely quantitively greater shrinkage would occur in the cabins where more headsets are supplied
Or is the explanation from the CSM meant to infer that status passengers only pilfer things when they are traveling in whY ?

Yep. Agree. And I am always "impressed" at the number of items taken from planes and lounges by some frequent flyers.

Iirc the cost to BA replacing silverware that went missing in F was extremely high. And these are supposedly premium passengers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They may need to install metal detectors at the lounge exit or station some staff at the security screening...

i would think most members of Australian Frequent Flyer have their own quality noise canceling set they take with them on all long haul travels in economy class. If you don't then you should.

I have my own set of noise cancelling headphones, but I appreciated being given J headsets in Y on SYD-PVG. Hope that I can get some in Y on HKG-MEL in a few weeks.

I was on the QF2 flight on Sunday night sitting in 71D. MY IFE had no sound & the handset showed ERR . I was using my own NC headphones. They reset the system 3 times before it came good. However Michael gave me a set of Business Class headphones to see if it was a problem with my set. It wasn't but I much appreciated their efforts and final solution. I pitied the poor girl in 72D as her system was reset three times as well.

I don't understand why anyone would steal the Qantas NC headphones. They're not particularly good quality, and how many people have a device or stereo at home that uses those three-pronged plugs??
