Qantas New Partner - BP

Do we have an end-date for Caltex and QFF points earn via Qantas Business Rewards? I would expect that it's the day prior to the BP program starting up, but can't see it


~Our partnership with Qantas Business Rewards is ending on the 31st of January 2020. Unfortunately, this means from the 1st of February 2020, Qantas Points will not be offered on StarCard.

So outages like this here don't inspire me with confidence - who does an outage/planned maintenance 2 days before Christmas? Absolute idiots.
Unique problem for you? Or maybe just very temporary? Site working fine for me.
 
These days I fill up at United as they offer a 95 RON E10 that my Vitara likes. They're also generally cheaper than most other outlets in my area. It's a shame their fuel card doesn't work nearly as nicely as the Caltex ones did, but I've recently cancelled my last two cards with their impending removal as a partner from Business Rewards. I don't think I could stomach BP prices regularly just for points, they're the highest in my area.
 
Slightly/majorly O/T:
Now that Caltex is to become Ampol again, but that Caltex Woolworths is owned by European Garage, the signs outside Caltex as it is, is still there, earn Qantas points here, with the Caltex name gone in a 3 years, (yes, long time), wonder if Ampol would carry on the ability to earn QFF points, for the stores that it takes over, and if European Garage would continue the earnability of QFF points.
 
For those who look at the fuel quality, some info, back in a past life I worked for Esso who then became Exxon Mobil and I did the reconciliation of fuel exchange between the Australian Esso terminals and other oil producers. Back then Total was just fading out and Bass Straight was running full on, we had a coastal tanker the Esso Gipsland as did the other producers, I remember Shell had the Conus and Conopus (all their ship are named after shells) for collecting at the various well sites and moving to the refineries and terminals and we used to interchange and simply swap volumes on a piece of paper rather than ship our own fuel to WA and likewise BP selling fuel in Sydney. All measurements in BBL (barrels) and US dollars.

When you buy fuel in in say Perth, regardless of the outlet you are buying BP, that's who has the refinery there, likewise Brisbane.

When you bought fuel in Melbourne you were getting Mobil as you did in South Australia.

In Sydney you might go to a BP but you would be buying fuel from Shell or AOR (Caltex) as they were the refinery owners in Sydney. Sydney no longer has a refinery and it's mostly imported from Singapore.

So as long as you're buying the octane you want in Perth it likely all comes from the same refinery as all other outlets in Perth.

The Valdez happened while I worked there, but that's another whole story.
 
Qn - With QF aligning with BP; what will happen to Woolworths/Caltex earn?

Are you saying that Brisbane is all BP? Isn't there a Caltex refinery in Brisbane?

For sure, I can’t remember now who had what. Was giving the general overview. Fuel to Australia is all topped up by imports from Singapore and Malaysia.

There are some independent fuel suppliers who import direct and I try and avoid the independent servos as I remember we caught them blending good with el cheapo.

I don’t go looking for the best but always buy the highest octane at what ever set of pumps I pull up at.

The flying connection, kerosene and jet-A1 are related, there isn’t enough kero sold in Australia so Esso only provided Jet-A1 as both products, of course there was a large retail price difference.

As I've seen nothing on this thread (or elsewhere on AFF or from BP or Qantas) about when this new arrangement might actually start, I asked BP.

Our new BP rewards program which includes Qantas FF will go live on the 17th March.

Overall good to earn QF points for what we normally purchase although nothing exciting overall as Costco has now opened in Perth bringing Fuel 30 cents cheaper & the local Caltex 25 cents than BP, it’s not an attractive option.
 
Not happy with new Qantas and BP arrangement.
I previously received 2 points per litre for Ultimate Diesel under the Velocity/BP programme whereas Qantas are only offering 1 point per litre for Ultimate Diesel.
Diesel car owners do not have a choice to buy Ultimate Unleaded!
On Monday this week Ultimate Diesel was more expensive that Ultimate Unleaded.
I hope Qantas are listening and can match the previous Velocity/BP arrangement of 2 points for BOTH Ultimate Unleaded and Ultimate Diesel.
