Hi all,

I see lots of people have posted questions about access to the Qantas first lounge in the past but I was hoping someone might have experience with this.

This is my first time travelling First with Qantas and my wife and I are taking turns. I'm flying Melbourne to Singapore in First and shes doing the return leg (points bookings). While one of us is in first the other will be looking after our 3 year old on the same flight is cattle class! My question is, if i'm travelling in First can I guest both my wife and 3 year old into the lounge? On the Qantas website it says I'm entitled to one guest but couldn't make sense of the kids rule. It's during Victorian school holidays so I'm assuming there with be a few Platinum's in there with kids!

Cheers

The answer is yes, as both lounges in MEL and SIN are Qantas owned and operated. Your wife will be your +1 adult guest, and your child has complimentary access.

Had you been traveling from a port without a Qantas owned/operated lounge (e.g. DFW) the answer would have been no as per Oneworld guest policies.

As an aside, can someone please explain to me how a guest could physically access a QF International First Lounge and NOT be travelling - per the conditions on the website:

Hah, I noticed the same thing earlier!

I can think of examples of situations where a lounge guest may be on different flights.

1. A family on split award bookings (for some reason)
2. Colleagues flying to different locations who meet at the airport
3. A friend, such as AFF member seeking guest rights to a lounge, meets another pax to get in

and as happened to me one time some years ago

4. Random meet in the security line totally unexpected with someone you know who happens to also be flying on a OW carrier. Unfortunately that day I was on EK and thus despite my P1 status, they would not allow him (o CX) into the F lounge.

Yes but they are still travelling.

May be the guest works at the airport? I'd be interested to see if that rule would be enforced at an international lounge though.
