Since the beginning of the new year I have been forced to travel by Jetstar between Newcastle and Brisbane with Qantas Link withdrawing their early am departure from Newcastle. However it has now gotten worse with cutting back to only two flights a day (from the original four)between Newcastle and Brisbane, departing around midday and late afternoon. So now it seems Deathstar will be my only choice and no status credits either as my company will only by the basic Jetstar Tickets.

Can you pay the difference yourself? I used to do that with most of my company paid fares.

Whenever I flew with them last year (at least once a month) they were always delayed on the first flight up to BNE. If you had any tight connections - flaky. I am a convert to JQ as the morning flight has never been delayed for me last year. That plus the fact that JQ is quicker means I personally won’t miss it.

I was using the early am QantasLink flight for nearly 3 years and only had one delay with a missed connection and one cancellation with Qantas rebooking me on Jetstar.
Previous to this year I had booked on Jetstar 3 times with only one successful result, one occasion I was rebooked on an earlier flight due to a flight cancellation whilst the instance the flight was cancelled with no advice and I showed up at 0500 to find the flight cancelled with no alternative till the PM, that was till I asked about the 0930 QantasLink flight and Jetstar rebooked me on that.
Currently I am flying to Melbourne more than Brisbane so I pay the extra $20 for a front row seat.
Finally, my company only books with Qantas/Jetstar but from memory there has never been a suitable Virgin flight time wise.
