"Qantas is changing, but what will never change is our commitment to rewarding you for your loyalty, whether on the ground, or in the air."

Obviously this is not for Perth based loyal customers ....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Why couldn't QF cut back everyday flights frm Per-Sin to say 3 times a week at least the planes should be full!

Would probably cost more needing to keep staff on for less flights..

I flew SIN-PER on QF with a Feb Monday flight. Not 100% full, but there weren't very many empty seats.
Elsewhere someone suggested 738s. If that meant there were two flights each way daily I can't see issues in filling them.

Pity that QF really don't seem to want to give their OW partner FFers miles for the QF flights. The fare classes have been down graded over the last few years. Changes to the semi-flex range to S class makes little difference in the QF program but a whole lot with AA (50%EQM 25%EQP) or CX (nothing?). Used to be V (or L) class (AA 50EQM/50EQP)(CX 50%) Half a dozen partner members flying in semi-flex could make a difference in a flight's profitability.

I flew per-sing last Friday and not many empty seats, fly home on to on tonight's flight, should be interesting.

Doubt the 738 reaches SIN economically (it is 2433miles) (versus SYD-PER at 2038 miles) - although I note FJ has used it on services over 3000miles.. The Perth fliers would then complain about not having proper Business seats..

Think the real issue in PER would be the lack of Business Class paying travellers, and poor yields given all of the LCCs that compete on the SE Asian routes.

738 has a max range of 3115 nautical miles, so should not be a problem for PER-SIN, if they really wanted to do it.

Jet Airways used to fly (still does?) 738s from SIN-DEL. Business class was spacious with 55' pitch or something, and economy was a hell-hole. The flights were packed and in economy, 6 hours and 30 minutes of a living nightmare.

So PER-SIN should certainly be doable by QF. And with individual IFE would be more pleasant than Jet.

Per-Sin is the fourth busiest route for international passenger traffic in Australia, not sure what dropping it says about Qantas!

They can't sell sufficient tickets at a price that makes them a profit.

"Let me assure you, however, that these measures will not impact your Qantas Points balance or cause your Qantas Points to expire." I note that there is no mention regarding the value of the points!!!

The 738 was built to specifications from a major USA carrier to meet USA trans-continental routes of greater than 2500 mile (2200nm) range. So PER-SIN is certainly within economical range for a 738.

I think Lesley should run the whole show.
A smart and intelligent person with a strong understanding of what it is to be customer focused. ..........but what would I know

How customers think maybe? Hell, when has that ever been a business model..

The move out of Perth is a terrible decision that will neuter QFI for a long time.
QFI never understood that to us Melbourne and Sydney are backwaters that we would enjoy flying over to get to our end destinations overseas.
The numbers of international flyers out of Perth is quite amazing and Qantas moving to zero market share shows me Qantas must have foggy spectacles.

They probably need more flyers paying with the folding stuff........rather than ones paying with FFP ;)

What further irks me at being left with JQ to SIN is that they do not even offer any business class out of Perth either. Being east coast centric affects JQ as well. I thought that they may have offered a J class JQ plane as some sort of compensation.
Scootbiz PER-SIN at $399 is looking good!

So the 330 refurbs rated a mention in Leslie's email. What progress has been made on that so far?
