Qantas Introduces International olci and Pre-Purchase of Exit Row Seating

From the Qantas industry site
latest qantas news international advance seat selection & international online check-in 18 june 2009
qantas has introduced international online check-in and advance seat selection, expanding the range of services available to customers.

international online check-in
customers whose first sector of their itinerary is on a qantas operated and marketed flight can check in and print their boarding pass between 24 hours and 2 hours prior to their flight departure. Customers may also enjoy a faster airport experience with dedicated online check-in counters for bag drop and visa checks.

international advance seat selection
from 18 june 2009, chairmans lounge, platinum, gold and silver frequent flyers travelling internationally will be able to request a seat via qantas.com once they have completed their reservation. By logging on to "manage your booking", eligible frequent flyers will see a 'select seats' button which takes them to a seat map showing available seats to request for their international booking.

Please note for any qantas domestic travel, a seating preference panel will be displayed on qantas.com with the opportunity for eligible frequent flyers to enter an aisle or window preference for a domestic flight number.

I wonder if the same privileges will apply to QP NB, as we pay for our benefits or will it be just be for the upper ranked flyers.

Indications are it will be for all - unlike that for seat pre-selection which is restricted to elites.

was pretty much the same process as the Domestic OLCI procedure with one extra step where you need to provide your passport details.

Simple, just the way it should be.

Didn't work for me and Quick Check at the airport told me to go to the service desk.

I suspect it may have been because I'm flying on a codeshare (on AS) or possibly because my 3rd flight leaves 5 mins before my 2nd (without allowing for the time difference).

I'm flying BNE-SYD-LAX-YVR

If I am taking just carry-on for an international flight where I've checked in online, is there any change as to when I need to be at the airport for an economy flight? Is it still 120 minutes?

Thanks

Whatever happens, you certainly need to be past emigration/security and be available for boarding when it commences - generally 30 minutes before scheduled flight departure time.
