Hi everyone,
Just some thoughts re availability of reward seats through Qantas. I'm at present trying to organise a trip to Europe departing Perth in mid December 2019 returning end on January 2020. I have organised the outward leg Perth to Zurich (with Cathay) and am researching the return journey. If you don't know because of decreased passenger loads Emirates have cut their services to one flight a day into Perth so availability has gone through the floor. Can't depart from Europe until 28 January (London excepted, but that doesn't "fit") but was able to get a number of choices into Singapore. Thought that availability would be tight but doable. When I went to check their was a flight that departed that was a Singapore/Perth/Sydney flight but nothing showed when I entered Singapore/Perth. Rang the Customer Service Centre and was able to get the flight broken down and now have a booking that suits. If part of the journey fits make the phone call, it may work for you if you can get a agent who listens. In addition, the agent actually advised that Emirates had cut their number of seats that they released for rewards so you may have to work harder to find what you want. Also after reading some previous posts I checked on the American Airlines Rewards site and can see that their members were able to book seats ex a number of European Cities up to the 19th January into Perth (Qatar Air) but nothing would show on the Qantas site. In my earlier conversation (via text) with Qantas Customer Service the agent advised that seats are released to different members of the One World Alliance at different times. In my view this makes the so-called "alliance" nothing more than a name only. If a member of one program can see the flight on one system why not on another?
Welcome to open up the discussion but I feel their is a bit of skull skulduggery going on within the One World Alliance and not all members appear to operate with other members in a transparent manner.
