QF1 scheduled for 17:00 departure delayed to 20:30 tonight, 08 Nov. (My son's on that flight to LHR via DXB).

After almost 3hrs flying my partner just landed in Newcastle on QF460 after 2 aborted landings in SYD apparently due to high winds. Apparently the airport is full with no where to park so they are just sitting on the tarmac with no info as to what is happening.

Anyone else caught up?

Fortunately the passengers on diverted QF458 and QF460 ex MEL (to NTL instead of SYD) should be OK because if they cannot proceed to SYD by air due to the 2300 hours curfew, our friends at NSW TrainLink (Home | NSW TrainLink) have a train from Newcastle at 0241 hours on Saturday that stops all stations, arriving Sydney Central at 0541. Not the fastest train on the Central Coast line, but at least it gets you to Sydney (and unlike the airport, to the heart of the city).

it looks like QF582 from PER is in NTL also , as well as JQ791 from MCY . Busy time in NTL . QF774 from ADL diverted to CBR .

Landed into SYD tonight on QF551 (@ 20:30)...just before we touched down a serious cross wind hit us and the plane crabbed pretty severely; pilots did a great job though.

Looks like I missed all the fun this week.

I hope no one is seriously delayed and all get to their destinations with their sanity in tact.

Well it was heading to SYD , it looks like it's now heading north . BNE ?

He isn't heading back to NTL. He has been cleared to BNE. Had a thirty minute dispensation for SY curfew and couldn't make it. Presumably a further extension wasn't granted and the PIC requested diversion to BNE

The QF website claims that it will land in BNE at 2330 local time (0030 AEDT).

Could the passengers have been offloaded in NTL to travel by (ugh) coach or (better) train to SYD, or will they 'enjoy' a pleasant 0200 AEDT check in to a BNE hotel courtesy of the Irish gentleman?

wouldn't you be P….d off , especially coming all the way from PER.

Came in on QF927 at 20:00 tonite 15 mins ahead of schedule. Was a bit bumpy but nothing i noticed as anything "severe".

Sounds like things picked up not long after that though. Diversion would have not been welcome at the end of a long MEL SYD CNS SYD status run day.

There is a Super King Air (Air Ambulance) on descent into SYD at the moment; be interesting to see how it goes.

AM247 (the aforementioned super king air) will be fine getting in to SYD. Aircraft have been making successful approaches for a good couple of hours now.
