Have been booked on the QF127/QF128 combination for the end of 2018 for a while now. Noticed with a re-timing of the return flight today, that I've lost my F seat selection (booked in J). Took a look at Expertflyer, and it seems that QF have F fare buckets open for these flights now.

Was unable to price this on the QF site, as I got an error. However, was able to price the flights at $12k return on a third party site, for some arbitrary dates (21 Dec - 7 Jan).

Don't think I've seen this mentioned anywhere, wonder if this will be an ongoing thing or perhaps just a glitch?

See thread re: 787's flying to HK from December ;)

QF Dreamliner to fly MEL/SYD/BNE to HKG

and

QANTAS’ DREAMLINER GOES TO HONG KONG

I'm in the exact same situation - lost my F seats both to and from HKG in Dec/Jan. Not particularly thrilled but I've never tried QF A380 J so at least I can check it off the list. Both partner and I are WP so secretly hoping for an op up, or we may put in an upgrade request.

Am I correct in saying F to HKG isn't eligible for Chauffeur Drive? We already get F check-in and F lounge, so the only real differences between J and F would be inflight?

For the return flight we've changed from HKG-SYD to HKG-xBNE-SYD so we can try the 789.

Flying F you may get a dedicated F only boarding lane only available to those actually flying F.

Looks like WP/P1 get access to this also

I don't know about SYD but when I departed out of MEL there was someone standing early along that priority lane directing those with boarding passes to fly F into a separate dedicated lane heading straight to the door leading into the F cabin (they checked boarding passes before letting you into that lane)

I now see AusBT have an article announcing this. Might just re-book onto the 787 to avoid 2-2-2 layout.

Needed to book a positioning flight to HKG in March for the start of a 280K award. Perfect timing, so took the plunge and booked it this morning.

As someone that doesn't fly real F that often (3rd time ever) or get to the QF First lounge, will be a great way to start our trip

Fixed my own issue on the outbound leg - moved onto a First award for an extra 30k points as there was availability in P. Convinced the operator to waive the 5k change fee as F wasn't available at time of booking. They said there must have been an equipment change, I didn't bother arguing. Anyhow a good result, A380 F on the way out, 789 J on the way back!

Has any one noticed that Qantas have suddenly changed the departure times of QF 117 Syd- HKG to 15:50 - arriving in HKG at 22:15 !
Then QF 118 departs HKG at 23:35 arriving in Syd at 12:05!!!!!!
We have fallen victim to this act of lunacy and have to rearrange hotel accommodation

Who would choose to fly at these times and what possessed Qantas to introduce these changes and why no notification that this was going to happen. Not even a Dreamliner nor a A380 could persuade me to choose this flight times.

Virgin and Cathay are now looking like very promising alternative choices as they fly at more reasonable times.

Have any other members fallen foul of this decision?

Why not call and ask to be put on QF127/QF128? Explain the retiming doesn't suit with your plans and they should move you for free.

It will be interesting to hear your comparisons between QF F and other carriers in business class.

Don't know for sure but very much doubt it. It's not offered for J flights on this route. I think you need to be flying to or from London to get CD.

Great suggestion!

Just called and a very pleasant and helpful woman changed our flights to QF/127/QF 128,on the spot and no charge.

Thanks for the suggestion

No Chauffeur Drive to/from HKG.
