With the demise of the music on most flights, I am wondering what is install for the whole thing, as my previous international flight from Manila to Sydney was seriously lacking in movie choices, then Sydney to Christchurch the same dismal choices.

So what do you very frequent flyers do for entertainment when you have seen everything on offer, stare at the roof as one does on the Sydney to Perth flights for 5 hours?

To be frank, I have only ever used the music choices during the flight maybe few a few minutes.
That said before a flight these days I load my iPad with pre-loaded programs from netflix, and music that matches my tastes.

On board wi-fi certainly assists, but is currently only installed on a handful of 332's and a number of 737's but not all of them yet.

Preload your iPad.

Services like Netflix and Amazon allow you to download for offline viewing and the device only needs to connect to the internet every 3 days for validation.

Must admit have much the same question. I flew on QF82 on an A380 a month back and was very underwheelmed by the choice. I put it down to the fact that it has been years since I've been on a Qantas A380, been mostly on A330's with the newer IFE system. Flying on QF9 to LHR in 6 weeks, will be mighty upset if the content is as lacking as it was on the A380.

With SQ depends very much on aircraft type and how old or new the IFE system is.

Of my recent flights CX was the best, then again that was on an A350 so newest IFE system. Only a short BKK-SIN ride too.

And in my case Qantas flights, CBR-LHR-BKK-CBR were $4800 for 2 adults/2 Kids (obviously EK LHR-BKK).

SQ couldn't price that route as a combined ticket, but as two seperate tickets wanted over $7k.

I, for one, am s little sad to see the music go as that is what I mostly use on board, I have a few games on my iPad and lots of books but no music or video. I hardly ever watch movies when flying and like to listen to the music.:(

They haven't updated the qantas entertainment app yet. Still has a music section on the drop down list but only has podcasts!
