Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Unless there's real competition, I don't think Qantas need to do too much. As you said, people will still pay for the fare.

There is competition on most routes and it is generally superior.

Even you own posts in this thread (and its companion on the 'other side') have proven that...

613AF45A-BEE7-46C2-AA9C-DAFF99C5DCBC.jpeg CBR-SYD 6:30 am breakfast/refreshment. Kale and ricotta frittata. Tasty but felt a little soggy. Bacon and tomato were fine though.

If this warm dish can be served exactly 3 minutes after the seatbelt sign goes out on a CBR-SYD flight, why can’t the flights to/from MEL get something similar? I’d have no problem with this exact meal for lunch or dinner, rather than the embarrassments they currently serve as noted above.

Casually browsing the thread I just remembered a really good feta and rocket salad on a MEL-ADL back in October. I'll have to dig out the pic and upload. It tasted really good and was a fresh alternative from the brown slop in MEL J that evening. I connected thru from AKL and ate well on that flight so a light meal of that standard was very welcome.

4BE96D11-DC76-4513-8AA0-9AA0BA0ADF37.jpeg Have also just had the same menu Pleb Status posted back in December twice this week. Enjoyed the duck rillettes but the rest very ordinary. Also disappointing it has been in play for so long.

This is the roast pork belly with “Neil’s” barbecue sauce. Good sized serve. Meat was ok. While I don’t mind it, some people might be put off by mix of hot and cold - obviously the coleslaw is cold but the sauce was also refrigerated which made the dish a bit odd.

QF786 BNE-CNS 14/1/18 19:35 departure

Beef lasagne or chicken salad.
Sadly lacked flavour.
No pre dinner drinks, but I think that's just this CSM.

The CSM is friendly/chatty enough as I have seen him previously on this same route. Ill ask him next time if he doesn't offer a drink - I wonder if it's his personalisation / interpretation of the dinner service. I did nab some of those pretzels with almonds though after dinner, as they were on display on the cart for all to see!

Yes it should be offered... and by the way I received the notorious almonds and pretzels for the first time ever on my recent BNE > PER. What a terrible disappointment compared to the usual LOVELY smoked almonds that I devour. I thought being an east west flight I would be eternally spared but sadly not :(

Agree flights over about 90min scheduled time do include a pre-meal drink post morning flights so things like MEL-OOL/BNE, BNE-TSV/CNS and the like it's been fairly standard in my experience as they have that extra 20-30min or so to provide for a drink service.

PDBs still seem to be water, or water. Except on the trans-con flights where it’s water or Maggie Beer sparkling non-alcoholic blah blah blah horse p*ss. Very disappointing.

Pardon my language.

Two flights this week show QF’s consistent inconsistency— 2 hour dinner flight SYD-ADL no pre dinner drink. ADL-BNE 1pm flight also 2 hours, pre-service drink offered.

Does seem to be at CSM / crew discretion.

Anything over an hour is sufficient in my opinion, at least on the 737s or 717s. Perhaps if the J cabin is full they might think otherwise.

QF923 CNS-SYD 19/1/18 12:20 departure

Thai beef noodle salad or chicken parmigiana
Poor presentation ( nuked in oven) but otherwise tasty. Bread offered post everyone receiving their meal.
Offered pre lunch drink, and also given Maggie beer ice cream on descent.
Although was sitting in 1F was served first (most likely due to being P1).
