I tried unsuccessfully yesterday to contact the Frequent flyer centre on 131131 and again this morning, are they taking a leaf out of Telstra's customer service?

I did get to chat online to the computer who could not assist me with my query and was directed to call 131131, so I tried to get an answer via the online service, which to my surprise I received an acknowledgement of my request, but no answer.

There used to be a number for platinum card holders, does this still exist, or had it been deleted as another enhancement?

What does Qantas mean by customer service?

Yes it still exists and is on the back of the WP card. Usually whatever number you ring will prioritise you once you enter your QFF number.

I called them last week and once I entered my QFF number it was answered within a minute.

So several times this week I have called Qantas as I cannot select my 2 x J seats on syd-lax-nyc return flights. The platinum line currently has a 3 hr 20 min wait (I kid you not call up for yourself) and you want more of my business. I am unable to select the seats online it only gives me the option of window or aisle which is hopeless?

Completely unacceptable, but unusual in my experience. Usually my calls to the platinum line are answered within 5 minutes.

I'd call again at another time. You may have just got unlucky.

I get the sms chat and the fb messenger service but still hard to communicate individual seats wanted by 2 people on multiple plane types on different sectors I know it’s a first world problem

1300 numbers are cheaper than 6-digit 13 numbers so it sounds like another cost cutting measure.

13 13 13 still works too!

As does 13 12 11 which is printed on the back of Plat cards.

1300 650 729 = 1300 OK 0 PAX/PAY/SAY

This got me thinking who owns 1300 QANTAS so I called it... and it routes through to Qantas. Can't find any trace of it online but it seems bizarre not to use that number.

A search of the register at thenumberingsystem.com.au shows this as allocated to Telstra since the 4th May 2001

1300650729 has been allocated to Telstra since 30 November 1995
