So a while ago I hacked together script to remove all the 'value added' offers from the bookings page and also hide Jetstar flights in the booking engine. It uses the GreaseMonkey Firefox extension. It has been slapped together but would it interest people? If there was enough interest I could probably figure out making it work in other browsers too.

Some examples of it working:

Chrome please :)

Does it actually mean you see more QF flights and connections? Or just eliminates JQ?

Chrome would be the plan. It just hides them and any reference to JQ - no different to an adblocker. But you do see more QF flights on the screen at once! I must stress it's a poorly put together hack but it does the job.

I'm guessing it just hides the JQ options (i.e. script looks for JQ flight number, then stops the rendering of the row with that entry). I'm assuming it doesn't block QF flights operated by JQ.

No matter - sounds really good! Can't wait to give it a go when I get onto my laptop.

Does blocking the value adds on MMB also eliminate the processing time required to load those value adds?

Good questions. It specifically sniffs for operated by Jetstar, I could also go after the JQ flight numbers but figured the former was better. It is only hiding elements with stylesheets - not sure if the flash components still load. No doubt there are much better ways to do this - am quite willing to figure it out but it's not my area of expertise!

I'll post it up to userscripts.org and provide a link.

Yes please - I use Greasemonkey for a number of sites inluding AFF (adapted from the FT script that makes all (well, many) acronyms into popup hotspots. This looks like a good one that I would use....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Wow 25 million points!

Good idea but I'm more impressed with your stockpile of points...

.

Didn't notice until I read your post - wow.

It was the only thing that I understood in the whole thread!

Thanks Joshua - installed and working great! (Ubuntu 12.04 with Firefox 15.0.1)

I'll second that. Hey Josh any tips on how to get 21 million points? :p :p

Is that screen shot of an RJ booking on Xmas day Amman to Baghdad for real?

IIRC Joshua is a student.

Alas I'm not yet on the top tax bracket, a chunk of my income is tax free and I'm a full-time student but do earn 'a bit' (clearly or I wouldn't be spending thousands on stuff I don't want/can't use for points ;) )

So I guess that rises the question how did you get to 25 million QFF points and how do the rest of us do it? ;)

Nice work - will try it on Firefox when I get home....:D

IIRC Joshua is/was the one who took the best advantage of a Woolies Select offer, putting the rest of us to shame, and quite possibly the reason there are only fuel vouchers available right now from EDR :p ;)

Sorry to distract from the topic of the thread though.

I didn't know he made 25 million out of it, though!

That many points will give you plenty of nice trips for a good portion of your life!

I might note that it was a "selective" Woolies Select offer, that only went to a few chosen people... But yes Joshua definitely took advantage of it...
25m points at say 1c/pt.... Ouch for Woolies...

So will we find out about this "selective" offer or is it secret squirrel?

If he does JASAs to Europe as a WP that would work out about 123 return trips worth of points
