I achieved PS status this month and recently got my PS card in the mail. Thing is, about 5 months ago I paid for 2 years of QP membership (as a NB at the time). My new card is just a "normal" Silver one with a OWR logo.

Is there such a thing as a QP Silver card? I recently went to Europe/USA and could access BA/AA lounges when travelling on BA/AA with my QP card, so when I'm in the US next year and flying on AA/QF will the PS card get me into the AA ACs? Or should I bring both just in case? Trivial, I know, but just thought I should find out.

Domestically it probably wouldn't matter as they only look at the BPs anwyay..

There is no such things as a QPPS card.

You will need to carry both on you when you are overseas to ensure that you get both sets of benefits.

PS and QP are totally separate things, as PS does not grant any lounge access benefits on the OW network.

If travelling, you'll need your QP card to access BA and AA lounges (where rules permit) and your OW card for other benefits. Note that BA do not recognise OW Ruby as a level, only Sapphire and Emerald (they do not have a Ruby level within their own program, hence the lack-of-acknolwedgement).

Just think of it as several pieces of wallet candy (although the PS now gives you large bag coasters).

Sorry for asking a dumb question but I am new to this site and am still coming to grips with some of the acronyms used. Can someone please explain what the acronyms PS and QP mean?

PS is Plebian Silver
QP is Qantas Pub, also known as Qantas Club.

some others are;
SG, being Scum Gold
WP, W@nker Platinum
NGCI, next generation check in.

Feel free to post a welcome to introduce yourself as well in the Introduction thread:)

weird though that there is an QPNB Card..

I joined QFF, got an NB card, then later joined QP and got a QPNB card .....
Just had a look at mine, technically the QP card does not have any status classification on it but happens to be a similar shade of red to the standard QFF NB card. Hence the confusion I guess.

Thanks for clearing up this issue. My previous employer purchased QP for me 8 years ago and within 2 months I had reached SG and therefore got automatic access to QP. I have recently gone down to PS and the remainder of my QP kicked in. I forgot about now having 2 cards and didn't realise the 2 schemes were independent.

Technically it is just a QP card. QP card has an expiry date, whilst NB card just has the date joined on it.

There's a possibility the similarity of the cards may cause some issues with those not familiar with them:

Again, if I were a betting man, my money is on an agent having a bad day.

AHA! I think you've pinned it!

Pick the QP card:

Additional potential for confusion because you are ranked "Qantas Club Bronze" on the face of the card. This implied to me when it first arrived that it was meant to somehow supplant the QFF Bronze Card, however, posts on AFF indicate that there is no QC Silver, QC Gold or QC Platinum, so its obviously not the case.

Whilst the current QP card is very similar to the NB, it is purely a 'Qantas Club' card.

Obtaining Gold or Platinum gives you complimentary access to 'The Qantas Club'. Old NB and PS cards have 'Frequent Flyer' on the back and old SG and WP cards have 'The Qantas Club' on the back of the cards. Old QP cards have 'Frequent Flyer' on the back (here's one I prepared earlier):

Now, they just say 'Frequent Flyer' on the back of the NGCI WP cards (i'm assuming it's the same for SG as well).

For domestic, a Qantas Club card is all you'll really need, however as mentioned, it has an expiry date if you do not renew, you'll need to go back to your NB card.

Assumption correct, Frequent Flyer under the magnetic strip left hand side, then phone numbers, under that legal disclaimer and barcode.
