As a Gold member I want to take advantage of the savings on QC membership - joining and annual fee. How is this done? None of the links provide any specific information

As a QF SG and so long as you remain QF SG you will always get QP entry.
No quibble.
If you drop to QF PS then join AFF gold to get discounted QP membership.

I reckon our OP is an AFF gold member rather than an airline Gold member thus their need for QC access.

Yes, that was my reading of the original post as well with them OP looking for info on the discount Qantas Club membership offered. But I may stand corrected.
